That means it might very well be the most negative Senate race in the nation. As the Journal Sentinel notes, that has taken a toll on both candidates, whose unfavorable percentages are much higher than their favorable percentages.

It's a low point in Wisconsin political history. To state legislative candidates, for offering few details about what their agendas will be if they're elected. Of note is the Republican side, which is likely to gain control of the state Senate, along with the As-j sembly and governor's a office, which they already control. That means their agenda is likely to go from proposals to laws. Republicans are talking about changing the state income tax code, but no one's saying how it'll change.

Who will gain? Who will lose? How much will it cost? It stretches credibility to say GOP leadership doesn't know yet. The start of the next session is only two months away. Voters should have known the details of the plan and how it'll affect them. Instead, it looks like we'll be in for a surprise. He did not build enterprises the old-fashioned way out of inspiration, perspiration, and a long slog in the free market fostering a new product, service, or process of production. Instead, he spent his 15 years raising debt in prodigious amounts on Wall Street so that Bain could purchase the pots and pans and castoffs of corporate America, leverage them to the hilt, gussy them up as reborn and then deliver them back to Wall Street for resale the faster the better." Robert Nord lander, Menasha FVTC to be used for training by emergency medical, police and fire personnel at its new public safety training center being built on the south end of the airport. The plane will be used for training simulation exercises once the training center is finished in fall 2014.

It'll be a terrific resource in emergency training and, like FVTC, we're grateful for FedEx's generosity. To the ads connected to the U.S. Senate race between Tommy Thompson and Tammy Baldwin, for their negativity. THE EDITOR BACKWARDS: The motto "Let's take America back" fits the radical right well. Its plan takes us back to the 19th century, with wealth and power in the hands of the few and misery for the masses.

Mitt Romney is the pretty face of today's GOP, presenting himself as a leader, but the reality is that, if elected, the billionaire corporatocracy will never allow him to serve the best interests of the vast majority of Americans. The ALEC agenda supporting the 1 percent will intensify its efforts to destroy the middle class, oppress workers, eliminate social safety nets, dumb down educational systems and privatize public services for profit, while destroying democracy and the American dream. Geraldine Jay, Menasha donation to weeK 727 to LETTERS TO sign in your yard, wrote a letter to the editor, handed out literature andor gave a monetary contribution. I would also like to thank the many citizens of Calumet County who have supported and endorsed me. So many of you have encouraged me and wished me good luck while out in the community or on the campaign trail, especially in these last weeks as I have had the opportunity to meet you face-to-face.

You have been motivating and inspiring. Now more than ever, I feel this sense of duty and privilege to serve the good people of Calumet County. Please vote Bolz for Calumet County district attorney on Tuesday. I'm committed to serving and protecting you. I believe I know the values and morals of the people of this county and will uphold those as your next district attorney.

Nicholas Bolz, Darboy Dietz has what it takes to be good DA I'm the district attorney in Crawford County and have held this position since 1991. Please accept this letter as my full support and endorsem*nt for the election of Jerilyn Dietz as Calumet County district attorney. As a point of full disclosure, I do not know, nor have I ever met, Dietz's opponent, although I'm aware that he's an assistant DA in Outagamie County. I'm sure he's a fine man and a fine attorney. But the position of district attorney is so unique and specialized, it takes a person with unwavering commitment to hold this office.

Dietz personifies this commitment. I have known Dietz since she was a law student and held the position of executive director of the Wisconsin District Attorneys Association. I was a member of the executive board at that time. Unlike other WDAA executive directors, I knew then that Dietz would devote her life to prosecution. As challenging as being a district attorney is, being a DA in a small county, such as Calumet and Crawford, is particularly demanding, The DA has to be an expert in all relevant areas of the law felonies, misdemeanors, traffic offenses, forfeiture actions, child neglectabuse protection and juvenile delinquency, to name a few.

In addition to this, the district attorney has to maintain and manage an office answerable to the county board of executives. There is no sub with a new USED car! with an all-new MM lawn mower! EXPERIENCE: There is more to consider than the economy in this coming election. In the event that the president is rendered incapacitated, the vice president becomes president and commander in chief. On one hand, you have Joe Biden, who has 40 years experience, elected to the Senate in 1972. He was chairman of the Foreign Relation Committee, chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and chaired the Subcommittee on European Affairs.

In 2003, he told Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic, "I think you're a damn war criminal and should be tried as one." On the other hand, you have Paul Ryan. Jerry Krejcha, Appleton stitute for the experience Dietz has in these areas. Given the alarming rate of prosecutor turnover and retention throughout Wisconsin, Calumet County should feel tremendously fortunate to have a dedicated career prosecutor like Dietz as its district attorney. I strongly urge you to vote to elect Dietz for district attorney. Tim Baxter, Prairie du Chien Constitution Party is another option I'm fed up with having to vote for the lesser of two evils every time we have a presidential election.

Our nation was founded on the principles of self-reliance, personal responsibility, small government and minimal taxation. The federal government was set up to be the servant of the states, not their master. That formula resulted in the United States of America becoming the freest, richest and strongest nation in the history of the world. Unfortunately, we seem to have turned our backs on that formula, with the result that we're a nation in decline. We have one major political party that seems interested in expanding the federal government into every nook and cranny of our lives.

And when the other major political party comes into power, it shows no interest in rolling back the intrusive government programs imposed by the first party. In short, the Democrats inaugurate and the Republicans consolidate. As one politician once candidly put it, "There's not a dime's worth of difference between the Republicans and the Democrats." Fortunately, there is a political party out there that defends the principles expressed in the Declaration of Independence, and promotes the limitations put on the powers of the federal government by the U.S. Constitution. Appropriately, it's called the Constitution Party.

The Constitution Party candidate for president is Virgil Goode, who was a member of the House of Representatives from Virginia from 1996 to 2008. Before that, he served in the Virginia State Senate from 1972 to 1996. The Constitution Party of Wisconsin candidate for U.S. senator is Riley J. Hood.

He's running as a write-in candidate. Don't hesitate to vote according to your convictions. If you don't vote for what you truly believe in, While supplies last. To approved credit on select then you'll never get what you really want. Brian Farmer, Appleton Murphy understands businesses' needs I've had an opportunity to hear Dave Murphy speak on more than one occasion in the past year.

I find him to be very intelligent and in tune with the needs we have in the Fox Valley. I'm confident that Murphy will represent us well in Madison. Murphy's years as a business owner will help him with his plan to help attract and grow jobs in Wisconsin. From his private-sector experience, Murphy understands that keeping taxes in check and implementing pro-growth regulations will effectively allow our businesses to add more workers and start new projects. Murphy believes strongly in a balanced budget that doesn't raise taxes.

"Responsible budgeting" is how he refers to it. Murphy cites reports stating many school districts find themselves with budget surpluses and are actually setting millions of dollars aside in rainy-day funds. Some have even been able to raise the base pay of their teachers. These major accomplishments could only be achieved with the tools given to school boards by Act 10. An Assembly representative must work for the good of all citizens in the district.

Murphy has shown me the kind of vision that can help our state be more prosperous. For these reasons, I plan to vote for Murphy and I encourage you do the same. Dave Gorshe, Appleton Oswald has strong work ethic We're voting for Kole Oswald to represent the 3rd Assembly District and we encourage other voters to do the same. In getting to know Kole in his years as our alderman, we have seen that he's well-versed on issues, intelligent, educated and compassionate, and has a strong work ethic. We have lived in the 3rd Distinct for over three decades, and we have never felt as much enthusiasm for a state Assembly candidate as we do for Kole.

His accessible and open-minded style is refreshing, and exactly what the Fox Valley and Calumet County needs in these overly partisan times. Gail and Paul Genereau, Appleton BERlHtTBnm- lif-T SmV JJJH mm models. Get rid of all tax exemptions Let the howling begin. I have an idea for increasing federal revenues while simultaneously simplifying the tax codes. There are many thousands of tax exceptions littering the tax codes.

They lurk, just barely visible, because they're written carefully to exclude the name of the beneficiary or the author. These exceptions are mostly immortal, not having expiration dates. The rationale for the largesse is also undisclosed. There has been no voting on these exceptions. They appear out of the darkness and are passed without justification, inspection, opposition or discussion.

The insertion of private tax legislation seems to be a congressional perk. The more powerful you are, the more often you may avail yourself of the privilege. After all, if you can't trust a congressman, who can you trust? My solution to this problem is quite simple get rid of all the tax code exceptions, all at one time. When the howling subsides, there may be some rationale for keeping a few in the code. Aerate the process.

Put them back with a vote on each one, one at a time. Include the name of the entity receiving, and the congressman proposing. Include the expiration date. Include the rationale. I haven't counted, but my estimate is that this suggestion will save thousands of pages of tax code, and add billions of dollars of tax revenues.

Maybe President Mitt Romney could add this idea to his tax cut plans. John Bittman, Waupaca Many thanks to campaign supporters With the election just days away, I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have supported me in my journey to be elected the next district attorney of Calumet County. Whether it was walking in 100-degree temperatures in the parades this summer or handing out literature in rain storms this fall, your dedication never wavered. It's with my sincerest appreciation I thank those who have done the following for my campaign: collected signatures to get my name on the ballot, hosted events, walked in parades, assisted with sign distribution, put a Ariens Razor TWO EVILS: The hierarchy of the political parties have given us two choices in the senatorial race.
