Nature & Parks

Montgomery Bell State Park is a vast property that offers many amenities including an inn, golf course, church and log cabin replica. It is surrounded by scenic lakes and has a river where visitors can take strolls. The park is also rich in history with several historical sites such as the Sam Davis Home, Rippavilla Plantation, Lotz House Museum and Winstead Hill Park which provide insight into the area's past.

Montgomery Bell State Park is a lovely place to hike. The Jim Bailey trail follows a beautiful creek and had a variety of wildflowers in bloom. We picked up the Montgomery Bell Trail at Church Hollow and followed another beautiful creek. We also checked out the spillway at Lake Woodhaven. Then, we had a delicious lunch at the park. I look forward to returning.

Overall great stay! Beautiful views from the lobby and our room. All staff was super friendly and helpful. They have a gift shop, restaurant and bar all on the floor with the lobby, restaurant was quite busy so I would suggest going more towards 5pm when they first open for dinner, food and service was great tho.The only down side for me was the bed, the sheets were very scratchy and the pillows and beds weren’t too comfortable. The rest of the room was wonderful tho.

Did the 10.5 mile trail. Very peaceful trail. I recommend downloading offline map because there were couple times I had to take my map out since some part of the trail is hard to distinguish from random path.I recommend doing the yellow trail if you’re here for the Lake Woodhaven dam.

Edward Lee — Google review

Great Park on Lake Woodhaven. It is a fully wooded campground inside the larger park. There are ballfields, playgrounds, boat launches, fishing, and a restaurant (which was closed during our visit). Roads are OK, sites are on level gravel and there is a creek nearby. Laundry has 2 washers, 2 dryers and requires downloading an app that we didn't get to work so we skipped it.

Bryan Symons — Google review

One of the best parks we’ve been to-Well staffed, thoughtfully maintained and planned trails and facilities. The park is stunningly beautiful. Our 10.4 mile hike was topped off by the best views of all when we took a side trial and “blue blazed” it to the Spillway. When it comes to this adventurous destination, my best advice is to “Climb every mountain-Ford every stream”… You’ll be glad you did.😊

Kristy “Cowgirl” — Google review

Awesome park with great hiking trails, mountain bike trails, a nice campground, hotel, restaurant with killer outdoor patio and a golf course. All within a 40ish minute drive to Nashville. We're staying at the campground and like it overall. It's older and, from what I hear, will be receiving some much needed upgrades over the next few years. We will definitely be coming back though. There's plenty to do and see and it's super family friendly. All the campground host have been super friendly. The bathhouse, near campsite 1, is definitely older but still decently clean, has plenty of hot water and overall serves it's purpose.Between the hiking, abundant creeks to cool off in on hot summer days, the lakes in the park, and other amenities, it's definitely worth checking out and has move up to one of our top favorite state parks/campgrounds to visit that's close to home, we're from Nashville.

This is a beautiful park! Nice hiking trails and historical stuff to look at. The fall colors were great and the hotel bar was very nice!. Great place to bring your dogs just watch for armadillos, they were everywhere!

I have always loved going to Montgomery Bell. It's always very peaceful and so much to walk around and explore. So much gorgeous wildlife to see.

Mattie Duffield — Google review

Montgomerey Belle State Park is a wonderful place for a walk through the woods. There are a few different trails to choose from. There's even one near the visitor center that is less than 3/4 of a mile long (just in case you want a SHORT walk).A wild bird sanctuary for several that are recuperating injuries and some that can't be released again. There are plants nearby that were planted specifically to attract pollinators such as bees.We found at least ten to fifteen different types of mushrooms. Our visit was during the hottest part of the day, so we didn't see too many animals. I suggest a visit first thing in the morning if that's what you want. They DO have some gorgeous deer and wild turkey in the area.I suggest looking up the historical significance of the area with the Civilian Conservation Corp and the Army Corp of Engineers. There is an old stone church that is open to viewing. They even still have small weddings and services there. It is also historically significant. I can't do justice to what is on their website for info. There is a golf course resort. There is a restaurant with a nice little menu. They have special selections for holidays such as Valentines dinner. If you consume adult beverages, you might want to try one of several different options for flights. There is a little swimming area (be careful as there isn't normally a lifeguard when I've been there). The swimming area is a sand bottom area and is roped separately from the canoe / kayak rental area. You ARE allowed to bring your own, or just rent theirs. There are a couple of little lakes that are great to view the beaver and turtles or even watch deer coming for a quiet drink. No motors are allowed on the boats, so it's exquisitely quiet! There is a camping area for tents and RV's. There's a primitive group camp. There are even cabins or a hotel to stay at.Make sure to visit with the rangers at check in so they can tell you about the activities that are scheduled (that you may be interested in).Enjoy yourself and keep it clean!

This is the first Tennessee state park I have been in, and it was a great experience. The park rangers and employees are very helpful. I hope I'm able to go this way again. Spring wildflowers are lovely.

Deb Heen — Google review

Camped there for 3 days. Very nice campground. Nice river to stroll by. Guest Services were very helpful and friendly.

Keith Barnes — Google review

Great little spot to camp. Has water and electricity at pretty all sites. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.Only down side is that the bathrooms need some serious cleaning. They look like they are in good shape just not regularly cleaned by the park staff.

Steven & Amanda Tyler — Google review

This place is gorgeous! My family and I enjoyed it so much. We made it a weekend trip to see it and still didn't cover the whole park. I would definitely suggest scrubbing the concrete steps off every once in a while at the beach swimming area, though, as I watched a lot of people slip and fall from the moss/algae buildup🤦‍♀️😄😅

Tanya Hoyt — Google review

Beautiful park with a spillway that is just gorgeous! Awesome walking trails, found some little gems along the way. Rocks with quartz and druze. My nephew was so excited! Bathrooms are clean and close to trails.

Kim Crowley — Google review

We had a Great hike: 6 1/2 miles. The trail and terrain were easy, well marked and even maps were posted 2 to 3 times. Plenty of benches to sit and view the 2 lakes. Saw plenty of Deer, Bullfrogs and Blue Heron. We ate at the Lodge: had fried catfish and pulled pork, delicious 😋 Our server: Shelby was very attentive and polite. This is our 3rd visit. We have tent camped and also stayed in the Villas in the past and will be back again. Thanks so much.

Beautiful park and well maintained trails.I did the MB trail. It’s well maintained and marked.Thank for rangers keeping the park neat and clean. The park office is cute.Recommend for everyone who is looking for an easy daily hike. If you decide to backpack overnight, go to the wildcat shelter. It features a creek.

Wayne wang — Google review

My husband and I stayed at the lodge for four nights, and we absolutely loved it. The room and bathroom were really nice and clean, the whole place was! We enjoyed the golf course, there were two deer on the fairway right behind us as we were on the first green - it was so cool being so close and they didn't seem bothered at all!! We saw deer multiple times while we were playing. I saw a beaver in person for the first time ever, he was right next to the bridge that connects the lodge to the boat rental area. He was down there chomping away! We fished too, didn't catch anything, but we still had fun - are there fish in these lakes? We rented a Jon boat with a trolling motor, and that gave great views of the lodge from the lake. We hiked a bunch and had lunch down by the creek on one of our outings. It's so peaceful there, and everyone we encountered was super friendly. We had dinner at the lodge a couple of nights, and everything we had was great. I was really looking forward to some great catfish on our trip, and let me tell you, the lodge absolutely nailed it!! It was so good and crispy, and they served me 3 huge pieces! We tried another catfish place in the area prior, and while it was okay, it just didn't compare to the lodge. Overall we had a great time, and look forward to coming back soon!

Melissa DeFer — Google review

Beautiful and bountiful State Park and a joy to explore for the first time. We look forward to getting back there again soon!

Lotz House Museum is a historic house museum in Franklin, Tennessee that has exhibits about the history of the Civil War and German immigrants.

If you are interested in American history you will enjoy touring his house. The man who built it was a wood worker and he used this house to showcase his talent. The staircase is beautifully made as well as many other details in the home. The house was located in the middle of the historic Battle of Franklin. There are still bullet holes in the house. They don’t allow photos to be taken inside. They have a gift shop if you would like to purchase a souvenir.

We visited the Lotz House this week during the Christmas/New Year Break. Our tour guide was Thomas and he was fantastic. Trust me, this tour is worth it and if you’re lucky enough to get Thomas as your guide, you will have a great, educational and entertaining visit.

Chris Staller — Google review

Definitely different than any other guided tour we've taken. Chuck was great, he made it fun for everyone. He was engaged with his audience and made it personable for all, we were in a larger crowd too-5 or 6 different parties, around 12 to 15 people total. Very impressed.

Great tour and very informative. Our tour guide was Chuck and he did a great job. A lot of interesting information about such a tragic event. If you love history this place is a must

Passionate tour guide (Kelly 🙌) was very knowledgeable, and unlike many other historic home tours weaved the history of the area and Battle of Franklin into the tour! Would highly recommend if visiting Franklin.Date: 8 January 2022Standard adult admission: $12 (discounts available)

Great tour for the history buffs and those that enjoy viewing historic buildings! Tour guide was hilarious and very knowledgeable about the surrounding civil war battles (could point out where your state's regiments were off the top of his head) and what happened to the family living in the house. Beautiful period furniture and wallpapers make you feel as if you stepped back in time.

What a tour we had with JT!We learned alot and there were many details that he shared that were above and beyond other historical tours we have taken.Don't miss touring the Lotz House if your in the Franklin TN area.

Such a beautiful history rich home. Our tour guide, Chuck, made the experience even better - answering all our questions about the house and the battle of Franklin.

Truly awesome tour! I've taken both the Ghost Tour and the regular day time tour. The Ghost Tour is on Saturday nights after normal hours. For this you need to get your tickets in advance but it is worth it! Our guide Kelly was very knowledgeable about the Ghost that occupy the home. She shared stories, photos, video and recording of paranormal events. A couple of weeks later I went back for the history tour which is during the day. Our guide Chuck was so good and had so much knowledge and history to share. I learned so much about the Lotz family from the tour,if you're in the Franklin/Nashville area you should try to take the time for the tour you will be grateful you did

We did the haunted tour. Was pretty amazing. Some of us on the tour even smelled cigar smoke! Our guide/host was the best!

lil206sweetie — Google review

Great experience. Our tour guide was JT and his knowledge of the original owners of the home plus knowledge of the history surrounding them and the battle was incredible. He is very animated with his telling of the history which makes you feel like you were actually there when battle happened. Well worth the trip!

Jacqui Martin — Google review

The gift shop person and the 2 guides we met were very accommodating and friendly. We enjoyed our tour and really appreciated all the beautiful antiques. The Lotz family history was interesting to hear.

This evening my 13 year old daughter and I took the Women’s History Tour at the amazing Lotz House. I’ve been on Kelly’s day time tour of the home before, so I knew it would be great, but I was absolutely blown away by the evening tour! She is incredibly knowledgeable and easily brought to life some incredible women of Franklin, as well as a few others who weren’t from the area, but have had a great impact on our country. I really appreciated how she talked about the seemingly mundane aspects of life that relate to all of us today, to sharing some of the fantastic stories that were these women’s’ lives and experiences! On the way home, my daughter couldn’t stop talking about what she learned and how much she enjoyed the tour-and coming from a teenager, I think that alone speaks volumes! I grew up in Franklin and tonight Kelly gave me a new appreciation and love for my hometown. So thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us this evening, Kelly, and I sure hope this tour is an opportunity that more people will take advantage of, whether they live in the area or are visiting!

Kristin McClelland — Google review

JT was an amazing tour guide! I walked away really having an appreciation for the history and his historical knowledge! I give this tour an A+++! If you're in Tennessee tell your Uber driver to drive you to Franklin for the Lotz House tour. You will not be disappointed! They also have a small bit impressive Civil War gift shop! I can't wait to return!

Our tour guide was not only very informative, but also made it fun. There was a lot of very cool stories and artifacts there.

We visited the Lotz House on 3-17-24. Our tour guide was Kelly. She was awesome. Both my grandkids, 11 and 8 loved it. Kelly answered their questions and told stories that they could understand. My granddaughter said Kelly was so good and loved her.

Carter House is a restored 1830s home that served as a Civil War command post. During the Battle of Franklin on November 30, 1864, the Carter family huddled in the basem*nt waiting for gunfire to stop. The house is now a state historic site and visitors can learn about the battle from artifacts on display.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of The Carter House. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was quick to answer our many questions. She told us about the horrific battle that took place on the grounds of the property. She pointed out the bullet holes in the walls and furniture. I took photographs of the outside and of the grounds. They do not permit pictures to be taken inside of the big house. They do allow photos to be taken in the small house and log house. From the inside one of them, you can see the enormity of the bullets fired. If you are in the area, you won’t regret checking it out.

L Floyd — Google review

This is a great little gem tucked into Franklin. It’s a rather simple tour, but the tour guide (Sheila) made the specific battle story come alive. She knew her history, explained it with clarity, connected with her group, and made it a memorable experience.I would suggest going here first before stopping at the Carnton Plantation.

Mandy J. Hoffman — Google review

Mike did a great job on our tour and brought the Battle of Franklin to life for us!

Pearl Greaver — Google review

Wonderful! We visited the Lotz House across the street and decided to come here too!The guide was wonderful and informative. We have purchased tickets to the other Battle of Franklin Homes as well.

Anthony Jones — Google review

The tour itself was cool, but our tour guide made the experience! She reached in and gave you such a heartfelt experience, not just a tour. Believe me when I say Kristie was the perfect person to show us the emotion behind it all! I will never look at the war the same. She showed us through their eyes! Thank You for loving what you do and the people you talk about!

Leisa Orr — Google review

Phenomenal tour guide experience! The tour was detailed and descriptive from beginning to end. I highly recommend!! Free parking and easy walking. I strongly recommend purchasing the extensive tour.

We stopped in Franklin and saw the battle ground at Carter House, an amazing part of our American History. We stopped in town and look at some buildings too. So much to see and not enough time, be sure to visit St. Paul's in downtown.

Alan B. — Google review

Our Guide Randy was very personable and really could convey the events with the gift of storytelling. The fact so much of the Carter family's personal belongings were still there was amazing.

Kathy M — Google review

An interesting immersion of what it would have been like to be present during the battle at the house during the war. Wonderful house and a great lawn to walk and see depiction of what was happening before and during the battle.

J N (JJstyle05) — Google review

Nice house and out buildings. Guide focused on distorted facts and personal opinion rather than actual historical facts. No chairs or benches in basem*nt area.

Peggy Harvey — Google review

The grounds are filled with history you won't see anywhere else. Our tour guide was Randy. He made the events of November 30th come alive and shared how the history of this battle affected more modern history. I highly recommend a visit to Carter House.

Rachel Showers — Google review

The tour was $20 and incredibly informative (it started at 2:15pm and took at least an hour), lots of dates, names and details. Great tour guide who really cares about accuracy over embellishment, much appreciated! As posted, pictures were not allowed inside the Carter House but we took several photos of the grounds and exteriors of buildings. The home is going to have some paint work done in the near future to more closely match colors of that timeline. Walking in the basem*nt was neat, they had chairs lined up around the perimeter for each person that had been documented as taking shelter there (including the Lotz family from across the street), so that was a heck of a visual.

Katie Hall — Google review

Excellent guided battlefield walk and tour of the Carter family house. It was explained well so that we could understand how the armies moved and the outcome decided.

Wesley Wilson — Google review

Amazing, yet sad piece of history - great tour.Study a little bit on the Battle of Franklin before visiting.Make sure to walk the grounds and read the markers. One of the most interesting artifacts in the house is the sugar chest (Google it)

Liz Woods — Google review

Cool to see, but they tell a revisionist version of the history that includes some pretty funny outright lies. As an example they’ll tell you there were no black confederate soldiers, despite pictures of and monuments to them existing. Soon they’ll probably start telling people the burning of Atlanta was a myth too. If you have to choose go to Elm Springs in Columbia, a short drive south from there

Parker Woolley — Google review

A beautiful historic house on a very tragic piece of land. Caught between the Union and Confederates fighting for Franklin. You can still see the bullet holes and the cannon ball that struck the house and the work office. Very haunting. The tour was very good and I enjoyed it. Downfall is you're not allowed to take pictures inside the house.

Linda Becar — Google review

Bill is a fabulous tour guide. This was interesting and just the right amount of time. Summer is a great time to come to avoid school field trips. We did the 930AM tour as they opened and it was perfect to beat the July heat!

Located in Franklin, Tennessee, Carnton is home to the McGavock Confederate Cemetery and a historical place museum with tours of the house and grounds. The porch at Carnton is where visitors can learn about the area's Civil War history through tours with production and design manager Brad Kinnison.

Carnton Plantation is an exceptionally storied home rich in Civil War history and well restored with original furnishing of the owners and period correct pieces. The guided tour is really exciting and in such detail to make you feel you were present at battle of Franklin. Leah, our tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable about the Plantation's family and their history. If you enjoy Civil War history or simply want to tour an old, well maintained and furnish 1830's-1860's mansion, you don't want to miss this place. Due to all the fragile antiques and nature of the tour, this not the best activity for young children. There is ample parking, a large vistors center and gift shop.

Don Annis — Google review

Very cool historical site. My parents and I went with my 11 month old twins for the basic tour. It was $18 a person. There were several other people there and I had to carry the babies because no strollers or anything are allowed in the house due to all the antique furniture and stuff in there. I only got to see two rooms before I had to leave and give the babies a snack. The rooms were beautiful and all period correct with actual belongings from the house loaned by family members. The tour guide was very informative, my parents said upstairs and downstairs was really neat. I missed most of the tour but one of the employees was really sweet and gave me a little booklet thing so I could read and look at pictures of what I missed. If you pay for the basic tour you can still walk the grounds to see the garden, slave house, smoke house, spring house etc by yourself. The ground was hilly and bumpy so I wouldn't recommend pushing a stroller on it. Everything is maintained well and there are several signs explaining what things are. Right next door is the Confederate and McGavock family cemetery (including some of the slaves). The cemetery has several signs with information about it. Pretty sad past but very interesting. There's also a gift shop there where you buy your tour ticket. I wouldn't suggest bringing any small children here because they will be bored and it will be a struggle keeping them from touching things. Anyone handicapped would have a hard time you with all the standing and steep stairs to go upstairs plus all the walking outside. They have bathrooms right by the gift shop that were mostly clean.

Amazing historic house tied to the Battle of Franklin. Emily, our guide, was incredible, sharing stories. This house served as a hospital during the battle; you can still spot some of the scars! Be sure to explore the grounds, read the markers—such a captivating tale! Imagine, 40,000 soldiers surrounded this family home during the battle. In just five hours, 9,500 soldiers on both sides were affected—mind-blowing stats! Don't miss learning about the cemetery's history.Very clean bathrooms. Bet the gardens look amazing in the spring/summer!

Iva — Google review

Had such a great time on this tour of the Carnton Plantation. Our guide Carrie was extraordinary and did such a great job telling the story behind it all. Be sure to walk the grounds and visit the outbuildings and cemetery. A must see while in Franklin!

Lindsey Neeley — Google review

We walked the grounds and read the markers. Such a fascinating story. This family home was surrounded by 40,000 soldiers during the Battle of Franklin. After just five hours 9,500 American soldiers on both sides had either been killed, were wounded or were missing. The numbers are staggering. Be sure to read about the women of the area, including Sarah Gaunt and learn about the history of the cemetery. Clean bathrooms. The grounds were stroller and walker friendly. Gardens must be beautiful in the spring/summer.

Lara Fishkin — Google review

We did the plantation and battlefield tour and it was very interesting and informative. Our tour guide was Joseph and he did a fabulous job on taking a trip back in time and our group wasn’t very big but we marched a very short distance in linear formation across a small area of the battlefield and he was describing the tense moments being under a artillery barrage and me and my fiancée loved it. We will return again, great experience very polite staff in the gift shop and Joseph rocked!!!

I cannot say enough good things about Hannah Jacobs and the girls at Carnton weddings and events. Phenomenal staff and planner. Hannah is accommodating, kind, gets the job done without asking anything (she just takes action and handles all situations and problems effortlessly taking stress off couples getting married.) One of the best experiences I have had at a venue while being the wedding photographer. I absolutely loved getting to photograph and be apart of the vendor team of Carnton for our couple's day. Such a fun group of people who are ready to make wedding day dreams come true. I would recommend not only Carnton but Hannah to ALL of my clients. She is a wonderful person and wedding planner and so organized.

Visiting this mansion was a great experience. Our guide was extremely prepared about the family and history and was so engaging. Lots of the furniture present in the house were retrieved back from the original family. The story of the battle adds an extra layer to the visit. Totally recommend it

Elena Tondini — Google review

WONDERFUL! Our guide, Sheila, not only knew lots of facts and history, but she weaved in the personal stories, too. She really helped me understand the battle here and the family’s role. The home has been restored in a beautiful manner. Wide open grounds to explore with markers around. Be sure to check out the cemetery and walk through the garden. It saves a few dollars to buy the combination ticket for here and Carter House nearby. Both worth a visit.

Kristine Murray — Google review

We had a wonderful tour today of the house and grounds. Our tour guide was excellent. He was so informed and engaging. The group on our tour asked many questions from quizzical children to inspiring adults. We also enjoyed the book store. It provided a balanced approach in its offerings and quality. Thank you so much. Fascinating! If there was anything that I would add would be to give slaves their due by mentioning the quality of workmanship when building the house.

Doreen Weiss — Google review

Beautiful place, just don't ask the tour guide any questions. It's basically a quiet, guided tour where you listen. No interaction. The historical tour was rushed. I think if you pay this much money to go on a guided tour, your tour guide should know or be willing to answer questions at the end of her rehearsed script that they are reciting as we enter in each room. There should be a little bit of time for discussion or questions instead of feeling rushed from room to room. There are so many artifacts in every room that there's no time to actually look at them all because they only point out a certain few, and you're moving along. There wasn't a bunch of people waiting in line for a tour so we didn't need to rush. We bought the ticket package so hopefully the Carter house will be better.

Misty Roper, M.Ed. — Google review

Excellent experience. Great tour. Interesting and informative. I learned some things. I won’t share all and I’ll let you experience this new knowledge yourself but do you know that Canton Plantation isn’t really a plantation, it’s a {blank}. What makes it {blank} is that instead of one cash crop it had more than one. Which ones? Well you better go find out.

Laura Williams — Google review

My husband and I planned to visit while on our honeymoon. They were quick with their response time and very accommodating. They even offered the ‘Amazing Grace’ tour to us on a day it is not scheduled. Our tour guide was well versed and knowledgeable. Beautiful and kept property. Friendly staff. Would highly recommend!

Em Lethers — Google review

What an outstanding tour guide! I wish I had gotten his name, but the gentleman that hosted our tour was an amazing story teller and clearly enjoyed history. The house and grounds are outstanding as well. Having just come off a rushed and non-interactive tour of the Hermitage, we sure appreciated this place! If you’ve got to choose between the two for some reason, come here.

Park

Sights & Landmarks

Stones River National Battlefield is a 570-acre park and cemetery that features well-marked trails and a visitor center, which provides information about the Civil War battlefield. The visitor center was designed to teach visitors about the site's history while remaining respectful towards fallen soldiers and apolitical. The National Park Service did an excellent job of presenting the information without bias towards any side of the battle - there was no mention of which party emerged victorious.

A very nice day for a visit. The driving tour is great, but it is walkable and great for bicycles. Something for everyone of all ages. Sites are well marked and easy to find. There is a self guided audio tour which is very helpful. Also very sobering to think of the number of casualties. You can spend as little or as long as you like exploring the park. Download the National Park Service app before you go.

Really great national historic site with a lot of intentionality put into capturing the history and events that took place. A few monuments that you were able to go see (accessible by walking) definitely add to the experience. This is a park that enables you to stop by on a day trip to Murfreesboro and is generally accessible by car. There’s pretty great biking infrastructure, and a visitor center that allows visitors to walk through a chronological record of “Hell’s Half Acre”

Zak Myers — Google review

Well designed visitor center that allows you to learn about the site and battle while also remaining respectful to the fallen soldiers and remaining apolitical. The NPS did a nice job of presenting this without a prejudice for one side being better or worse--specifically I didn't recall seeing any information on which side won the battle. It's about 8 minutes from the interstate and you can enjoy the full visitor center experience in as little as 30 minutes.

Brad Kosar — Google review

If you are looking for a outing with the family or just want to get out and learn about the civil war and the struggles these men went through. This place is one of the largest battles and most causalities occurred in a short three day period. It’s humbling to walk amongst the soldiers graves and see the many that gave their lives during the battle. They have a guided tour you can take or you can go in your vehicle and drive among the trail to the actual battlefield places.Such a great trip for learning and seeing what they went through.

We are always pursuing more passport stamps! My kids enjoyed the Visitor Center and the drive through the battleground and past the Stone River National Cemetery. We saw 4 wild turkeys as we drove in and they "talked back" when my girls called to them "Gobble, gobble, gobble!" Junior Ranger activity books are free for kids, and completing one will earn them a badge. We spent some time (and money) in the gift shop... a bird guide, a couple children's books, Christmas ornament, and more stickers to stamp for our forgotten at home passport! Also there was a book for Family Activities. I do recommend as a great place to visit and learn some history and about local wildlife. There is a short educational film that shows reenactments (including head wounds and dead bodies) my girls found this a bit upsetting and said, "I hate wars, they make people die!" In my opinion, that's an excellent take away! I enjoyed the quotes from Ed Abbott.

Just stumbled onto this on our trip as we were making a stop in Murfeesboro and had some downtime to be able to visit this battlefield. Neat little battlefield that is very accessible to walk around, drive to and spend an easy 1-2 hours here tops. You will not be spending hours and hours here to see everything but for a a battlefield I didn't know exist before visiting, it was worth a little detour to get out and stretch our legs.

Mr. Whiskers — Google review

This park is awesome. Unfortunately, the history behind it is not, but the presentation of the history and historical facts at the time is just great. It is also horrifying at times to realize what those soldiers went through.I highly recommend taking in the whole park. It is truly an experience. The slaughter pen is unbelievable, especially when you realize the horrifying battle that occurred there. The folks at the visitor center were extremely helpful and friendly.Do not miss out on this park for sure if you are in the area.

Dan J — Google review

This is a battle field during the Civil War. This park you can drive to locations within the park to see certain important locations. You have an option to hear free audio (off your phone from a number you call) of the area you are in. If you enjoy history this can be a nice place to visit.

Giovanni Silva — Google review

There has definitely been a lot of work put into this place lately. I haven't gone here since I was a kid on a field trip. There are bike Lanes car Lanes and just beautiful surroundings. We even got to see deer!

Amanda Flowers — Google review

Stones River is nice to have in town for a casual stroll. Today was a great fall day! Those who are into history will find this place rich with information about a time before..

Preston Thompson — Google review

I appreciated that it was possible to visit this despite not having a lot of time. I was able to complete the visitor center and 5 of the outdoor sites in about 1.5 hours. The rock formations in the Slaughter Pen were interesting.

James Milks — Google review

Tucked into a city, this is a great place to see nature. I was surrounded by deer the morning I was there. As far as following the battle, it's not the easiest place to do so. If you have knowledge of the battle then what you see and walk/drive to would make some sense. There are very few plaques and almost no monuments. The visitor center is nice and the rangers there are very knowledgeable. Having the natl. Park app helps to follow along some of the high points that are preserved within the park.

brian schroeder — Google review

We did the booklets for junior rangers- ages 13-6 and it was fun. The books will be updated to the park for better outlining they stated, as it was a bit all over the place where to find the clues. The staff were super friendly & engaging. We absorbed history & discussed many aspects of war and the struggles as well as that each longed for home. They had audio to listen to writings. The only downfall we had was the field being sprayed where the tombstones were and figuring how to maneuver out without inhaling or getting on shoes. Cross walks have buttons you press to alert passing street to different portions to the park. Very clean bathrooms and great gift shop. Highly recommend the park.

Melanie Cain — Google review

We will have to come back on a warmer day to walk the trails, but the driving tour was fun and perfectly fit the hour of free time we had while in the area. The visitors center was informative and rangers were friendly and helpful.

Kristy Schepker — Google review

Humbling to say the least, a great spot loaded with history. An interesting multi stop tour of the battlefield, a cemetery, a nice museum & gift shop.

Hockey Fan — Google review

The visitors center was great! We were greeted with a smile and given a map. We toured the small museum which was very informative and nicely laid out. The outdoor area had a a few monuments and fields but left a lot to be desired. I definitely recommend if you enjoy taking a walk and learning about history.

It was an amazing experience walking the trails of this Battleground and learning its history via the visitor's center and the National Parks employees.

Cannonsburgh Village is a reproduction pioneer village that showcases the history of an old town. The place features various historical buildings such as a gristmill, a school house, and a general store among others. Visitors can explore the village at their own pace and learn about its historical significance through QR codes placed on the buildings. The museum also boasts of having the world's largest cedar bucket.

What a cool place to spend the afternoon! We loved strolling through the grounds at our own pace to explore the history of our town. So unique and educational!

Danielle Armbruster — Google review

What a fun, and free, stop! World's (new) Largest Cedar Bucket, really neat old buildings and history. The QR codes on the buildings are a great touch so you can see the interiors even when they are closed!Be sure to stop by the cute little gift shop for some yummy ice cream, neat trinkets, a site brochure, clean bathrooms, and an informative talk by the employees who work there!

Kelly Grago — Google review

Nice way to spend an afternoon. While the structures are of olden times, most buildings have been moved here from other places in Tennessee. It was educational to look inside the buildings to see how people lived, worked, and played back yonder. Plenty of parking.

Davy — Google review

Decided to check out a few places in Murfreesboro ( visiting Tennessee). This place is a nice place to bring kids if your in to history. Period correct buildings, nice vintage tractor display and the staff was friendly and informative. No reenactment while I was here but I understand at times there is. It's free!!! And just across the creek is a nice place to picnic.

Max Wood — Google review

Nice little place and a pleasant walk. For a free venue it was really lovely and educational.

Mona Adams — Google review

Great walk through past living conditions. Kind staff, simple layout but go at your own pace. Restrooms available across grounds & visitor center helpful & has cute items to purchase by locals. Oct 28 2023 will be Harvest Day fun, sorry to miss. Blacksmith wasn’t on staff and no guided tour but fun time w the kids and played checkers on the grounds!

Melanie Cain — Google review

Really enjoyed the historical impact we experienced while visiting this place. Recommend visiting, you'll be grateful you did.

DeejM — Google review

Cannonsburgh is so much fun to visit - whether a regular workday or a weekend festival. The pioneer era village is highly detailed and set up to view inside. Usually there are artisans and staff there to explain the equipment and settings. Many beautiful weddings have been held there and every time we have gone we’ve seen some great live music and dancing.

Jennifer Powers — Google review

Very well maintained and historical info was interesting. It is worth seeing and fills in a two hour time period. Check it out!

Totally free 1880 old town experience, but if you enjoyed you should leave a tip, the woman was super friendly, she gave us a introduction, you will spent one hour to see all the buildings, its a clean place, they have outdoor tables to play chess, 5 stars

Flaming Cats — Google review

History is always interesting especially when it's presented to you with actual examples from the past. For me, it's amazing to see how well they were able to construct their facilities and machinery in those days. It was all available to see and review. Well worth the trip for me.

Cool, small historic village that you can tour and learn about the history of the communities around Murfreesboro. The historical farming equipment is awesome!

Went on a dreary, drizzly, rainy day so not all the buildings were open but definitely enjoyed it and learned a lot! Dont have room to post all my pictures on here but definitely a lot of history to be learned!!Went into art league which is also located here, talked to a couple ladies, looked at the art for sale, a lot of hidden talent there!

Historic house museum & residence of President Polk, offering 30-minute tours & garden access.

Absolutely wonderful tour and tour guides! Very informative, great for a field trip, a day with the family, or just something to do to pass the time, I highly recommend! Columbia TN is such a cute little town also!

Kathleen Butler — Google review

Nicely done museum house with a focus on President James K. Polk. The museum has a very good collection of artifacts. The guide was knowledgeable and engaging. It's worth noting that Polk only lived a portion of his life in this house - with the demolition of the Polk House in Nashville, this became the primary place to serve as a museum to Polk in the area.

Brian Halma — Google review

Beautiful home of our 11th President James K. Polk. This is his only remaining residence other than The White House. His home where he lived after his presidency in downtown Nashville was torn down. Not sure why Nashville would tear down a presidential home! The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the home, the history of the time, the President and his family. The tour included the home, the grounds and the kitchen. They also have a video about JKP and a small gift shop. It was not busy, but there was a steady flow of people. Highly recommend a visit to Columbia, TN and this historical hidden gem.

Tim Sutton — Google review

Spent around 2 hour here. Very informative tour guide and enthusiastic about the history behind the mansion and family. Would definitely recommend a visit!

Nicholas Redding — Google review

Nice tour of a home President Polk lived in. Staff was very knowledgeable and helpful on the tour. Not a large house however and the grounds are small.

Todd Oney — Google review

Visited today with my son and we loved it! Very friendly staff, nice gift shop, and interesting things on exhibit. Benjamin served as a great guide and we will be back again bringing our other family members.

J T — Google review

The tour left a little to be desired. The small museum inside the gift shop provided a lot of information and I was glad the staff mentioned the contributions of the enslaved people who helped the family. This was also covered in the museum displays. Your was pretty kid friendly, they had a little scavenger hunt for kids to participate in.

Amanda Martinez-Kirby — Google review

This is the home of our 11th President. It is one of the more authentic historic locations from this time period as most of the items are not reproductions due to the family passing them directly to the historic association.I have taken the tour four times now over a ten year span. Every single tour guide is extremely knowledgeable and seems to have a passion for James Polk.On this trip, our guide went above and beyond by answering questions and even staying a little past closing to make sure we saw everything.Very highly recommend (even if you aren’t a Polk fan) just for the historic value.

M Hendrix — Google review

Beautiful home of President Polk. This is his only remaining residence other than The White House. The house is finished as his home in Nashville was. The tour guide provided history and knowledge about the President and his family.Worth the visit.

Nick Alexander — Google review

Wonderful and informative tour of the Polk family home. The tour included the home, the grounds, the kitchen/slave quarters, and a temporary exhibition on the adjacent property. They also have a video about JKP and a small gift shop. They offer children's camps through the summer. Came on a Sunday. It was not busy, but there was a steady flow of people. Highly recommend this hidden gem in a sleepy Southern town!

Christy Lawson — Google review

Our guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. Because of this tour I am buying a book about this Presidency.

Valerie Conner — Google review

One of best historical tours we have ever done, largely due to our tour guide, Phyllis! She was congenial and extremely knowledgeable! We started with a 10 minute video, then reviewed an adjacent room of several exhibits before the personal tour hosted by Phyllis throughout the home. Highly recommend this to anyone with a love of history. James & Sarah Polk deserve much more notoriety!

Rick Rickert — Google review

Small site and museum - but our tour guide was incredibly educated and fielded all sorts of questions. Sites like this show the modern importance of the National Archives, and for a relatively obscure President, it was enlightening to see what would be a fairly simple home that he grew up in. Many of the surviving artifacts from the time there are full of history.

Steve Van Dyke — Google review

I never knew much about this president, but I do now. It's a small property and only costs $12 for adults. Pretty original homes and garden. Columbia is one of the smaller towns that hasn't torn down a lot of historic homes so it's pretty as well. Our tour guide seemed very knowledgeable.

What a cute state park and its so close to home too!It has primitive camping, campings, motel style lodging, a restaurant, a store, several playgrounds, a walking trail and its located on the Duck River. What a great local get away to nature.

Sandra Dow — Google review

I came here to experience the Backcountry sites as I don't enjoy listening to an RV motor while I'm camping in a tent. First the good: beautiful trails, well maintained and marked. Different trails for different hiking levels and lengths. Both sites are great, site 2 you will see a bit more foot traffic than site 1, but site 1 currently has an outhouse smooshed by a tree (didn't bother me, I have a shovel. 🤷🏻‍♀️)Slightly bad feedback: obviously of no fault to the park, but hearing a train in the back county takes away from the experience a bit. It's not super frequent, but definitely noticeable. Other small note is the trail is VERY VERY slick after a rain. Like very muddy, very slippery. 'slickernsnot' like my mom used to say 🤣Otherwise, a beautiful location with cabins, a restaurant, all sorts of wetland exploration things. I'll be back.

Jessica Brooks — Google review

Ok starting with check in and staff ,quick and very helpful / friendly with a small store that has most last minute stuff, the camp road and sites are all smooth blacktop with easy to read site numbers, the bathroom and shower houses ( there are two ) were very clean, and the best for last, most sites are level and large with a thick line of tree's separating the neighbors, the whole campground is covered with tall trees also they have a few nice hiking trail trails in the park.I'm sure I left a lot out but I hope this is helpful.

Went to this state park for the day. It looks like a great place to camp. Very peaceful and the people seem friendly. I love seeing the wildlife and just enjoying nature. You can just go kayaking for the day or enjoy a hiking trail.

Dyanne Branson — Google review

Very nice park. Clean and well kept up. Shower houses were nice and clean also. Very quiet compared to some other parks we have stayed at. Lot was really nice and had more than enough space for all our stuff we bring with us.

Jamie Martin — Google review

River area is super busy on weekends most of the time. Great place for picnics and leashed pets! Hiking trails are well maintained but heavy foot traffic at times, especially on weekends. There are bins for trash and recycling.

Wow, customer service was top notch! Park was beautiful!Shout out to Hannah Wallace! What a friendly young lady! I bought a bunch of water etc and was going to come back to pick it up as I was walking! She made arrangements with Ben Stanley who was kind enough to deliver it to my campsite! Then, Bobbie Mitchell helped me with my motorcycle! Yeah, she is the bomb! I was looking for a guy to help me and her question was… could a woman manage it! Of course…we had no problem doing it together!Biggest surprise…ride my bike out of the park 3.4 miles and broke down! Left it at a gas station… walked a bit and an suv from the park stopped and asked if I was okay! I mentioned I was walking back to the park as my bike broke down. Not only did Shaun Rainon take me back to the park, he dropped me off right at my site. I will definitely make a point of going back to this park! The trails were awesome, I don’t think there is a bad site in the park! Every employee I mentioned went over and above with a smile and a great attitude! So happy I spent a couple of days here! From Ontario, Canada!Thank you!!

Beautiful state park, a little bit of something for everyone. A little bit away from the city of course, but worth the drive if you're looking to get into a more rural area. There is canoeing the duck River nearby and they do have a golf course on site in the park. I do recommend!

My husband and I embarked on another adventure, this time to Henry Horton State Park, specifically site 38. We eagerly arrived, but unfortunately, check-in wasn't until 12 PM. However, we made a quick stop at the General Store to complete the check-in process. The attendant there was incredibly friendly and provided us with valuable information about the park.Upon entering the park, we were greeted by the breathtaking sight of leaves changing colors for the fall season. It truly was a picturesque landscape. The site we stayed at was particularly impressive, boasting an extra-wide space that was mostly level. Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable, and we were pleased to find that water and electricity were readily available at our site.

If you’re looking for a place to get away from other hikers and enjoy your time in nature this is a much better option than say Fall Creek Falls and just as beautiful. If you’re looking for “safety in numbers” hike one of the more popular destinations. In a 3-4 mile hike I only came across 4/5 other small groups of 2.It’s beautiful and well marked.I parked at the camp ground store and hiked the river trail to the wetland loop, and back around again to the river trail back to the parking lot.Trails are CLEARLY marked with color symbols attached that the trees. The only mistake I made was leaving the observation tower I came off the stairs and continued walking on the trail in front of me. It led me to the backcountry trail but it was clear within a few minutes and I could look down at the river and see the correct trail. Just a careless mistake, but again the trail was marked with sign posts at important intersections. It was a pretty flat and easy enough hike that would be easy enough for school age children (and it’s easy to shorten or park in a different lot on a different day or after lunch)I’m not in great shape and considered it a decent workout. Didn’t have to really stop and catch my breath or pause. No big uphill climbs.I really enjoyed seeing the wetlands from both sides and climbing the observation deck. Just watching the small birds work their way through the marsh grass was pretty neat.Trails are VERY well defined. You aren’t going to wonder if it’s a park trail or a deer trail that leads into a swamp.Great looking spot to camp. There are lots of amenities in the park itself from a restaurant, store and even a hotel and cabins. Also offers golf course and a skeet range. The bathroom even has free showers if you wanted to bring a kit to freshen up after a long hike.Make sure to stop by and see Cotton the owl and (I think) Buddy the Red tail hawk next to the store in the campground.

Scott Moore — Google review

This park has it all! Fishing, shooting range, golf, Frisbee golf, playgrounds, a pool, bird watching areas, a lodge, camping ( rv, and primitive/ tent camping) they even have hammock camping. They have a nice new restaurant, beautiful hiking trails, and more. Everything is fairly priced for what it is. I took my family here for the weekend and had a blast. We hiked on some very scenic trails, used the pool all day, and stayed in the lodge. The state staff is accommodating and friendly, professional, and speak well on the area. I highly recommend this place for a little family getaway.

Matt Campbell — Google review

Neat little, quiet state park. We stayed there in the off season. Pretty much the only people there. Pool was closed. It was such a nice environment, very calm and the complete opposite to the stress of the city.

Great area for kids to play tag while sliding and swinging!

Chris C — Google review

This is a wonderful park to camp in! The tall trees provide lots of shade and keep the area cool. It does make it hard to get good Starlink connection, and cell coverage is restricted, but the park does try to provide Internet access through their own wifi network. The trails are well maintained and beautiful. Lots of wildlife activity like squirrels and red Robbins. Utilities are well regulated and easy to access. roads were easily traveled, with no problems getting a large vehicle through. Our vehicle is 40 ft long and 12.5 feet in height for a comparison. good luck with your camping experience here!

Creekside park with walking trails, camping & cabins, plus boat rentals & a massive swimming pool.

We spent 4 days here in a cabin and all I can say is, "WOW!" Tennessee has the most beautiful state parks and their accommodations DO NOT disappoint!!! There were 7 of us and 2 puppers we had MORE than enough room in the cabin. We spent our days on the trails, discovering waterfalls, the museum, covered bridge, old iron bridge, floating bridge, nightly fire pit shenanigans and just enjoying the beauty from our balcony.David Crockett State Park is NOT to be missed.

You can easily see the park in half a day. There are quite a few hiking trails, all of different levels for different hiking abilities. There's paddle boats in the summer on the lake, or take your own kayaks. A beautiful waterfall close to the lake but to get to the bottom, ensure you can stretch a bit & still be steady. Park is free admission which is awesome! There are camp sites available if you want to camp. Restaurant on site as well. Great place to spend the day or half a day, depending on your preference.

This was a really nice state park I enjoyed the 2 days that I was here I made my reservation online and didn't have any issues finding the campsite. I chose a campsite that was located directly next to the showers and the bathrooms once I took my shower the shower was made very inconveniently for a short person and I myself in 5 2". The water was kind of warm but not as warm as I would like it and I took a shower very quickly because tbecause the angle of the shower could not be changed. The bathrooms are located on the other side of where the showers are.The nature at this park was really nice the campsites were built very well and the leveled also. The campsites for tent camping are mixed in along with the site for trailer are trailers and campers. The pool for this park is going to be closing because the usage was down but the grounds are very nice and beautiful the cabins at this park don't really don't resemble cabins at all they resemble small apartments but they are nice as well they are located around the lake. We did go fishing in the lake but didn't catch anything. We were here in March and search and I don't believe that the restaurant was open we didn't get out to see but there were no cars there. This park is located very close proximity to anything that you would need or that you have forgotten my phone also works here in the park which was a plus.Overall I will say that I do like this state park the only complaint that I had was the shower.PSThere is an archery 🏹 range as well!

One of the best full hook up parks I've stayed in. Friendly staff, well maintained spacious campground, beautiful trails. Restrooms, picnic tables and dump station. Everything you need within walking distance and so much history and scenery. Paid $28-$36 30amp and water.

rebecca Lents — Google review

A beautiful park with well spaced camping pads. My only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is no sewer hook ups. That limited our length of stay. The hiking trails are well marked and well maintained. The bathrooms are cleaned regularly and well. All staff that we met were knowledgeable and friendly.

Mary Woodis — Google review

Beautiful State Park CG, sites are spacious and wooded and paved. This park is well maintained, lots of walking trails, plenty of places to eat near by. My only small gripe is the signage when you first arrive, where to park and register, I felt like I was parked in the middle of the road. A couple of signs would fix this problem, We definitely will return. Good Verizon signal here.

Captain D — Google review

What a lovely state park! We camped, did two hikes and one of the programs. The camping site was great, creekside, with a flat area for the tent, picnic table and fire pit. The Shoal Creek hike is wonderful and an easy out and back with just a short uphill portion. The turkey ridge trail is okay. The first portion you can hear/see the road. The middle is lovely and then the last half mile or so is along the road.My only complaint/suggestion would be to update the description of the space/planet viewing activity. It is a kid focused program on the distance between planets. We were not able to actually view any planets (though that may vary based on time of year)

M M — Google review

One of the cleanest campgrounds I ever visited. Peace & Quiet. The sites are awesome. Plenty of room. Camped there 2 nights. Had a great time. Restrooms and showers are clean. Can't wait to return.

Keith Barnes — Google review

First Class. Well maintained while not taking away from the natural beauty. Campgrounds are modern and neat. Lots of trails. The museum is a gem and worth the trip all by itself. Laid out in an easy and intuitive way. On my permanent list.

Carmen Hall — Google review

Great place for camping, hiking and having a wonderful time getting away from the city. A few playgrounds for the little ones. Excellent lunch menu! Friendly staff.

Lisa Nolan — Google review

This is our favorite camping place. We have tent camped and now we have a camper and love it. We do miss the Olympic size pool being open so bad. We would come more if the pool was available. That was the icing on the cake! Please open it again! Restrooms/showers are clean. Campground 1 is our favorite but limited on spots if your 33ft. Campground 2 has great spots but it's not near the water.

Christina Stack — Google review

Stayed in Cabin #4 and the staff was unfriendly and rude. Otherwise the park was amazing! Fabulous hike around the lake and many scenic areas. Just don't expect to be treated like they want you there.

Brian Chamberlain — Google review

Nice park, lots of walking trails with streams and a lake. Husband and I wanted to stay one night, but they made it very expensive to stay one night basically its a minimum two night stay. The park just isn't big enough or enough to do around the area for a two night stay.

Angie Henderson — Google review

Stayed here two weeks. Beautiful park with tall old growth trees, clean bathrooms, large showers will great water pressure, spacious lots, picnic tables, and fire pits. We had Campground 1, Site 4, which basically gives you a huge lot with a giant yard to yourself, which was totally worth the site being quite sloped. Sites are water and electric and there is a dump station on site. The hosts were friendly, attentive, and they have inexpensive ice, and wood available for purchase.Park is close enough to town, with local taxi and delivery services available if needed.Wildlife everywhere, including deer, birds for watching, possums, armadillo, and lots of fish in the creek that runs along the campground.Entrance to the Trail of Tears is in the park, with historical markers, and a well marked trail. We really loved our experience here and plan to stay again.

Anna N — Google review

This is a great little state park with some good points of interest. We camped and the spot we were in had water/electric and the site was level and easy to get into. The check-in process was a weird because they don't allow check-ins until 3 pm and the office closes at 4 pm, so there is only a one-hour check-in window. We got there at 4:30 and had to come back the next day and check-in. We had a reservation so we were able to go on to our spot for the night but if you don't have a reservation and miss the one-hour check-in window you're out of luck.

Gary Brown — Google review

Excellent stay! Quiet, only two Rvs in the campground. Very clean, roads good in and out, easy to get to from the Natchez Trace, and 65 on the other side. Water, and Electric for us. Polite staff. This is our 2nd time there. Dog friendly and restrooms in the center of campground , Will stop again.

Valerie Werne — Google review

Fun Sunday at David Crockett State Park! Dog friendly and easy trails to walk on. A part of the Trail of Tears is here as well. They have a Bird Aviary and a museum too.

Don't let the outside fool you. It looks a bit scary, but the inside has a cool atmosphere. It is a repurposed school turned into a distillery. Great service and very informative staff. They allow 4 samples for free. A lot of different flavored rums, several whiskeys and a few moonshines to choose from.

Michael Turner — Google review

We are currently doing the Ky bourbon tour. We were camping at Tim’s Ford and noticed we had some distillery’s around us. This was our first stop for the day and I think we bought more bottles here than we did at all the rest. Honestly did not know this place existed but glad we found it. The spiced rum was my favorite while my wife got pecan Lacour. We also enjoyed the tour.

John Reese Outdoors — Google review

Small family distillery with a lot of products. Show up any time. No appointment and free tastings. Surprised at the variety of products here. Our tour guide, Angie, was informative and entertaining. Walked out with several different bottles. The grapefruit vodka was a favorite. Praline flavor is good after dinner dessert.

Mike Lambert — Google review

We had a great time and even met the owner. A great little Distillery off the beaten path with definitely the best liquor made in Tennessee. Our tour guide was awesome. Definitely a place to visit.

Randy Kiehnau — Google review

This wonderful distillery offers tastings and tours at no cost.Pure genius, because you are more likely to make a purchase.Great tasting whiskies.

Johnny Manning — Google review

We enjoyed our visit, tour, tasting and will soon enjoy our purchases. Unlike It’s Lynchburg neighbor it’s a quaint distillery. We walked in and were given the Vip treatment. The owner, Phil Prichard, greeted us and asked where we were from, etc. We signed in and Angie began the tour. My only complaint is that she talks fast but in her defense and to her credit she gives that tour frequently and seemed to wear many hats and she wears them well. There were so many products to choose from. We bought Rums and their TN Whiskey.

Karl Sodergren — Google review

Our bicycle group uses Prichard's Distillery as a rest stop on some of our rides heading up from Huntsville to the Kelso area and southern Tennessee. The ladies at the distillery have always made it a fun interactive event for our group. Highly recommend a tour and tasting in this historic building. They have a wide variety of tasty products for sampling. Sweet Lucy makes a great addition to a holiday sangria and the cranberry rum gives an interesting take on the classic Mimosa.

Fred McMurry — Google review

This was such a nice little distillery and we're happy we stopped in. We just walked in and joined a tour, tasted a few delicious drinks and bought more bottles than we planned. The tour was pretty short and sweet. It was interesting hearing the history of the distillery and how the old buildings are being reused. We would definitely recommend a visit.

Courtney Green — Google review

We had a wonderful time going through the distillery. Our guide was so sweet. The rum was delicious!!! Bought more then I should have, but it was so good!!! This was a wonderful way to spend our 48 wedding anniversary. Just wish they were closer to us.

Frances Elrod — Google review

Popped in here with our RV on our way to North Carolina. Good internet signal, so my husband and I could do some work then take a tour and do the tastings. Love that they are open early!Definitely check this place out if it's on your way! They have whiskey, moonshine, flavored and chocolate liqours, regular and flavored vodka, and regular and flavored rum.All staff was very laid back, friendly and knowledgeable. Easy RV parking. They are also part of Harvest Hosts, but we were only there for a few hours. You get 4 little tastings for free and the tour is free. Lots of great merchandise. We bought the spiced rum and vodka...both reasonably priced and very unique!!!I would love to see them expand in a way that invites people to hang out...by selling individual drinks/co*cktails and serving some food. There are recipe posters all over the place suggesting different ways to use their product in drinks.... Would be great if those drinks were available.

Lakeside park offers a restaurant, cottages & plenty of space for gatherings & getaways.

The part of the park that has been rebuilt since the tornado hit is really nice. All new roads and bath houses. The sites are gravel and large and relatively level.

Michael Chandler — Google review

Hotel is a little older but makes up for it with the service, comfortable beds and balcony with lakeside view. It is very quiet and quaint with no loud traffic or music. There is a nice restaurant in the lodge next to the harbor to enjoy breakfast or dinner. Bring your swimsuit and fishing pole, bikes or kayak too they have a great pool and a whole lake connected to the Tennessee River. Lots of hiking trails as well. You won't go wrong staying here it was very relaxing and wish I'd had more time to explore

Matthew Steverson — Google review

Very comfortable campgrounds. Plenty of spaces with great views of the water. Nice bathhouse. Section A has lots of shade. Section B and C are in the sun. They offer primitive camping in another Section.

Vann Cook — Google review

I love the park but the old lady at the campground office when i checked in is not friendly, she is rude! After greeting her good afternoon and told her "I'm here to get my car tag for camp tonight". She just blurted "what name!" - No good old Southern greeting like "afternoon, how are you?"....just looked at me asked for my name! Ma'am just because you see I'm different that you assume I'm stupid! You made me feel ignorant and stupid...anyway, I love the campground and the park...I just don't like the Old lady in the campground office!

Large park with an extensive number of amenities. Beautiful lake with an great rock coastline. Plenty of wildlife great pavilions and luxury cabin rentals. There is a marina and beach area which make this park excellent for enjoying water activities.

This is the second year we've taken our family to Joe Wheeler for the weekend. Last year we stayed at the lodge, but this year the kids (adults) stayed in the lodge and we rented a cottage so that we could have a gathering place. The cottage and location is beautiful. The only problem is that the beds are not comfortable at all. Check in was easy, all of the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had a great weekend!

Stephanie Montgomery — Google review

Nice, quiet state park. My family and I had a great few days. There is a marina, cottages, cabins (across the river), Lodge rooms, onsite dining, pool, hiking, frisby golf, and camping. We stayed in the lodge but we want to come back to the camp ground

Jason (Biscuittoes) — Google review

This review is for the picnic and swimming area.First we had to pay to get in, which would've been fine but then come to find out it looks nothing like the photos. There was trash everywhere and even though pets aren't supposed to be allowed on the beach there were mounds of dog poop everywhere. You couldn't even swim because of how gross everything was. I do not recommend swimming or having a get together here.

Vanessa Blankenship — Google review

Campground and bike trails! I'm only reviewing the Campground and the bike trails because we haven't stayed at the lodge. The campground is very nice with a lot of spots having beautiful views of the water. Check the spot map because some spots have shade trees and some have no shade. Full hookups and everything seems to be maintained well. We love to ride the bike trails. Trails are pretty well maintained and are fairly easy enough for most riders. You will see deer if you come here. We see them every time and they are beautiful! It's overall just a beautiful park.

BOOMN5 — Google review

Stayed here in the newly renovated campground section C.Hiking good. Many wildlife. Golf course, The General looked healthy and well maintained. Also disc golf, beach area under renovation, boat rentals and cruises at the marina, marina, lodge and restaurant. We had a good time, All people we interacted with were friendly.

This state park is very relaxing to come to. My family and I love coming here. The rooms are spacious & clean, the beds are comfortable. The staff is welcoming and friendly. They have a great pool. I've been coming here since I was a child. I love the docks that you can walk to as well as the swing set. You can get beautiful pictures of sunsets here. Also great place to see birds. There are so many that build nests at the lodge. It is so cute to see them! The lodge has a great restaurant. I love the Wheeler burger. Their Easter buffet is amazing and had such a huge selection of items. The gift shop in the restaurant is also fun. I found some cute crystals. Definitely worth checking this location out and spending the night. I love it here! Very peaceful! They also offer cabin rentals on the lake. The new cabins look beautiful right on the lake. I remember staying at the older cabins when I was younger. There is a fun little old fashion play ground that is great to see still around.

The lodge may be a little dated but it's clean. The surroundings are gorgeous and the staff is excellent -- helpful and friendly. The Christmas boat parade is always a favorite. There are several nice trails for mountain biking and hiking.

Dave Beck — Google review

The new mountain bike trails at Joe Wheeler are well designed - fast, curvy, rolling hills, family friendly and scenic. About 9 miles total. The Sunday lunch buffet was great too!

carla simpson — Google review

This is a beautiful park with fantastic cross country style mountain bike trails that are multi-use. The lake is beautiful. The golf course is a great value. The rangers are helpful. Most times I run or ride here I see more deer than people.

Nature & Parks

Monte Sano State Park is a public recreation area located on top of Monte Sano mountain in Huntsville, Alabama. The park offers hiking trails, bike trails, and a campground with tenting and RV camping available. The park is also home to the Hays Nature Preserve, which features beautiful blooming azaleas in the springtime, colorful leaves in the fall season, and tranquil forest areas perfect for families to explore together.

The campsites are spaced very nicely for privacy. The area we were in had full 50A hookups. There is a lovey pavilion in the middle for group gatherings, or as we were lucky enough to be there for, musical jams. Within walking distance of the campground is a Japanese Tea Garden, a playground, a picnic area, and an amphitheater. There are als multiple hiking trails. We will definitely be returning m

This park is a beautiful breath of fresh air .We were here early spring 3/22/24 so the trees are still bare and most of the flowers un bloomed, however, the ambiance of the tea garden gave more than enough to inspire a marriage proposal. To me, this park resembles commitment, honor, loyalty, duty, respect, responsibility, and the circle of life in harmony (family).Needless to say, i took a piece of Monte Sano with me that day.Dedicated to my wife - 지현

Beautiful nature! Not too crowded but enough people to not be nervous alone. Great for hiking or mountain biking; not the best for trail runs at least not the one I did. Lots of steep loose rock. It is amazing here though.

Rachael Rowe — Google review

A gorgeous state park with LOTS of great hiking trails for moderate levels. The trails have lots of roots, rock & exposed bedrock. Gorgeous tall pine trees & sweet smell. Visiting in late October ZERO bugs harassing us. Lots of parking at each lots & many trail options. Day pass is $5 or $4 for seniors or those with golden access cards.

Elizabeth Ann — Google review

Loved this park. Up on a mountain so camping was cooler. temperature wise. and there are full hookup sites available. Different hiking trails available. Small camp store. If you are going up for camping check the maps. don’t go the way GPS sends you. it is a windy switchblade type road. there is an easier entrance off Governors Drive there are picnic areas and it is dog friendly. Also a playground near the picnic area. outside the campground.

Diane Hooper — Google review

Such a nice state park, so many nice trails and the staff was super friendly. RV sites were also nice and pretty level. Nice playground and plenty to do.

D Hare — Google review

Another great state park in Alabama. We stayed in the campground in a 28 ft RV. There were larger 5th wheels and class A motor homes in the park also. There is plenty of room between sites. Good area for kids to ride bikes. We enjoyed a nice hike on a couple of the many trails available.

Michael Chandler — Google review

Beautiful location but check the map before you go. Google maps brought us in from the northeast on Bankhead Parkway- VERY tight switchbacks, extremely steep and narrow road. We were in a 30’ class C motor home and just barely made the turns.Otherwise, enjoyed our stay.

What a gem! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, they went above and beyond! Eager to interact. Spacious campsites, clean. The bath houses were dated but clean and stocked. We've been coming to Huntsville for years and never knew that there was such a beautiful place within 15 minutes of downtown Huntsville!

This is such a beautiful place to go hiking they have trails that are marked well so u won't get lost.. and the scenery at the top is so beautiful and breathtaking... I would love to see it during sunrise or sunset and take a... But I did get some beautiful pictures picture🥰

Amber Gilmore — Google review

There is so much to do and see. I went to 2 different look outs, found one of the 2 water falls (it hadn't rained so only a trickle of water) so relaxing. I was only able to hike about a mile due to time but what I did do was amazing. The silence other than nature was perfect. I will definitely go again next time I am in the area.

Fran — Google review

There are a lot of good things to say about Monte Sano. There are a lot of hiking trails (and options for how far you want to hike). The trails are well marked - and maps are available in the visitor center. The park has disc golf and mountain biking. There is a mountain bike practice area that looks cool, too.We hiked on a chilly December day, so the heated bathrooms by the picnic shelter were a hit. They were clean. Why not 5 stars? It’s a great place for a hike near Huntsville, but the views aren’t breathtaking. The Stone Cut trail is the coolest path, but otherwise just anticipate a nice hike in the outdoors.

Title: Nature's Embrace at Monte Sano State Park CampgroundRating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Our stay at Monte Sano State Park Campground was a delightful surprise, turning an unplanned reservation into a memorable mountain retreat. Nestled at the mountain's pinnacle amidst a hardwood forest, this campground provided an enchanting backdrop for our visit to the area. The journey to the campground, albeit adventurous, revealed the beauty of the location. The mountain road, with a 5 to 6 percent grade, added a touch of excitement to our ascent. While a challenging switchback initially gave us pause, we later discovered a more accessible route from the Huntsville side, ensuring a smoother entry for those towing vehicles. The check-in process was seamless, with a well-organized station and ample parking before entering the campground. For late arrivals, a helpful Camp host at the entrance gate's left side ensured easy access with the necessary code. Our stay at site #3 was both comfortable and scenic, featuring full hookups, a gravel base, a picnic table, and a fire pit. The off-season visit granted us the luxury of choosing from numerous open campsites, showcasing the campground's capacity of 85 RV sites and a designated area for tent camping. As a traveling photographer, I found two experiences particularly memorable. The first was the breathtaking sunrise from the scenic overlook to the east—a perfect spot for capturing the dawn's beauty. The second occurred during RV setup when I turned around to find several deer quietly observing from just a few feet away—an unexpected encounter that left me in awe. (Video link attached)The campground's abundant wildlife, including squirrels, birds, and even a coyote, added to the allure of the stay. Over our four-day visit, tranquility prevailed, making it a peaceful escape.I highly recommend Monte Sano State Park Campground to fellow travelers, with the friendly suggestion to approach it from the Bankhead Parkway via US-431 for a more convenient and scenic route. This campground is a haven for nature lovers and those seeking a serene mountain retreat.

Great place. Clean bathroom and shower. Lots of trails to walk or if you're brave, Mountain bike. Would definitely come back.

Hiked south loop trail and it was all well marked and stopped near the campsite for the view! Bathrooms were clean and loved the Japanese Garden. Even saw a momma deer and her fawn and they weren't scared of us at all!

Waterfall Yoga Therapy — Google review

Please fix the only bathrooms we seen near the campground. They were both very disgusting today and neither would flush and if I have to pay $10 for 2 people to come in your park I’d like somewhere clean to be able use the bathroom. The park itself is quite beautiful. Will be back. Hopefully I can change this review next time we come.

Vanessa Poteet — Google review

The park is very well-maintained! The trails and views are simply breathtaking. There is so much to do here from overnight stays in the cabins. We’re bringing your camper up here and enjoying the fresh mountain air. This is truly a great place to bring your family and friends for a nice day out enjoying nature.

Museums

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is a museum dedicated to space history with exhibits and artifacts from throughout space exploration. It has both indoor and outdoor exhibits, as well as a simulator ride for kids and adults, so visitors can explore the universe from close up or step back in time to experience what it was like to be an astronaut.

I went yesterday April 3rd. It was awesome beautiful weather. There were a lot of people but you couldn't really tell it except from the parking lot. There is so much space and places to visit that it was extremely enjoyable. If history is your cup of tea, I highly recommend a visit to this place. It is great for all ages. I even noticed they had motorized scooters you rent if you couldn't walk long distances which I thought was thoughtful. Everyplace seems wheelchair accessible. So do go and enjoy yourself.

Andrea Lemley — Google review

Fun place to learn history of the US space program. It’s expensive for a family to come here so plan accordingly. They charge for almost everything interactive once you pay the $30/ea. entrance fee. I get it that they are privately funded so they have to charge to get in. The kids loved it and I loved coming here as a kid myself. The restaurant is a rip off so plan food accordingly.

Rick Lowe — Google review

The tickets are $30 each for entrance, but are 50 percent off on weekdays in February. There are additional charges for many of the activities. The Saturn V is the biggest attraction included with the admission ticket and there are free tours at scheduled times. The tour was worth it. We only had 4 hours on hand to spend here and wish we had more. There's the moon rock, NASA Lunar module, Mars 2020 Perseverance with Ascent vehicle and helicopter, the Apollo 16 command module, the mobile quarantine unit and many other exhibits that should not be missed. Near the building are gravesites of Miss Baker, the first squirrel monkey to go to space and come back alive and her husband.

Seeta — Google review

The whole place was great. I wish the Space Shuttle was back atop the tank. The Planetarium was AMAZING! The guy that did the show for us was funny and gave the crowd an option for "A boring normal planetarium show" or a "Fun and up close and personal and informational experience with the planets." This was almost exactly one year ago, but he did such a good job that I still remember the funny jokes he made up. "I mean, Uranus is the butt of all jokes." I wish I had thanked him in person, but all these months later, I thank you to whoever made that the best experience ever!

Abigail Jenkins — Google review

Our family had such a great time visiting the space & rocket center. The staff were all so friendly and knowledgeable. We did the planetarium and although I study space for my degree path, I learned quite a bit about the planets in our solar system. There was also a playground for my 7 year old to play in for a bit before heading back to our hotel. So far it's been the best part of our first time trip to Huntsville.

Cris — Google review

The people who work here take great pride in their history. It was great to see all the authentic pieces. We enjoyed the ability to climb into some of them and feel what it was like to be an astronaut. We also liked walking through the replica of the international space station. They have many experiences that are not included in the admission price. So go check then out first before you decide which ones to choose. The place is showing its age.

Harper Voyages — Google review

Wow. Just wow. What an experience. This place did not disappoint! We did 2 planetarium shows: The Sounds of Space and Cosmos and co*cktails. We had the amazing opportunity to speak with two WOMEN who are engineers for NASA. The gift shop employees were super knowledgeable and friendly. The only confusing part was there was no honorable mention to Katherine Johnson (Hidden Figures). It would have been great to see a dedication to her.It was a great experience all in all though.

Bobbie Hatfield — Google review

So many things to see and do. I bought tickets online, which is highly recommended for any of the activities (there were only 3 spots available for flight simulator the day before). Neat to see everything. Very well organized and maintained. Lots of friendly staff. On-site restaurant is a bit expensive.

India Visser — Google review

Core memory! Went with high expectations, and they were fulfilled! I kinda wished I lived nearby so I can make this an annual trip. I would also recommend the rides (especially the MaxFlight and VR experience). Stuff was also super friendly.

matomitev — Google review

I had a great experience here, learning about the space rockets and of course walking the grounds around the static displays. Take about 2.5 hours to walk and read of its uncrowded like the day I went. Also there were rocket scientists present for you to talk to. The hands on portion where you get to control some of the games was really a nice touch. I definitely recommend a visit.

Xavier Orozco — Google review

Our day at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center was an absolute dream! The abundance of free parking made our visit hassle-free. 🚗 The center seamlessly blends fun and learning, engaging us in rocket science, mathematics, aerospace, engineering, and technology through hands-on building activities. 🌌📚 The myriad of benefits exploring the center offers makes it a perfect day of education and exploration. Highly recommend for families seeking a unique and enriching experience! 🚀🌟

Mike Mike — Google review

First time visiting. Overall we had a good visit. The four of us was little less than $90. I feel like it’s overpriced, and the food was also overpriced for what you got. So that’s why it has 4 stars. I wasn’t sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised at some exhibits. There were construction going on so it looked a bit of a mess outside. The kids enjoyed themselves. The employees were friendly and helpful so no issues there. The facilities were clean. It’s wheelchair, stroller friendly, with a mom and baby restroom. I would come back, just not anytime soon. Maybe when the kids are teenagers.

Thai Kajangu — Google review

Quite a cool place to explore - but only if you have a bit more than 1 hour we had (so we ended up just checking it out from outside and then the me gift shop). Not the cheapest but quite large, also with a large gift shop with quite a cool selection. Seems quite kids-focused, great option for families.

&Tilly [andtillycom] — Google review

Awesome experience!! Great permanent exhibits, and several temporary ones that change up a couple times a year. This month, they had a really cool Guinness Book of World Records - Science of Play exhibit in the main room! It was so much fun!! There were dozens of different games and challenges for kids of all ages to interact with. I highly, highly recommend going to the 8K Planetarium movie "Our Place in Space" !!! (Tickets are $10-$12 each, but its worth it!)

Laura Cavanaugh — Google review

Even if you're not a big space fan this place has something for everyone. Tons of specs program things inside and out. Old rockets and spacecraft, astronaut items, a real moon rock, the capsule from Apollo 16, and tons of play areas for kids. Such a cool experience to stand under the Saturn V and think of the historic missions it powered. We took our two boys 7 and 4 and they loved everything about the place. You will not regret seeing this place in person.

Not only was it INCREDIBLE to see REAL space crafts that went to SPACE, but a HUGE thank you to the employee who helped me when I got lost. My phone had died, so I couldn't find my family and ended up having a panic attack, but the employee who helped me was so kind and calm and helped me find my way, and I have nothing but appreciation for them! So, 5 stars for both an incredible experience of getting to see and learn all about some incredible space missions, but also for the fantastic customer service!

It was an amazing place to spend the day with the family. Super busy but we were able to easily do everything we wanted. The planetarium was so incredible. I would definitely recommend it while you are here. I can't explain how extraordinary it is to see.. my daughter kept saying it was out of this world 😁

Marie Fowler — Google review

This was a great family experience and educational as well. There were many interesting and interactive exhibits to see. This is a museum that will take you a couple hours or more to view, but is very worth the trip.

My visit to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, was an unforgettable journey into the world of space exploration. This center is not just a museum; it's an educational powerhouse that provides an immersive experience into the history, science, and future of space travel. As you approach the center, you are immediately struck by the imposing rockets and space artifacts on display, creating a sense of awe and excitement. The grounds are well-maintained and provide an excellent backdrop for the incredible exhibits inside. The museum houses an extensive collection of space artifacts, including a Saturn V rocket, which is a marvel to behold. Walking beneath this giant is a humbling experience that really puts into perspective the scale and ambition of space travel. The exhibits are thoughtfully presented, with informative plaques and interactive displays that are both educational and engaging. One of the highlights of my visit was the space shuttle simulator. It gives you a glimpse into what astronauts experience during a space mission, offering a mix of thrill and learning. For younger visitors and the young at heart, this is a particularly exciting feature. The center also does an excellent job in educating visitors about the history of space exploration, from the early days of the space race to current and future missions. The displays are comprehensive, covering various aspects of space science, including astronomy, astronautics, and the technology used in space missions. For families with children, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center is a fantastic destination. The interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and educational films make learning about space fun and accessible for all ages. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to answer questions and share interesting space facts.Another aspect worth mentioning is the Space Camp programs offered at the center. These programs provide a unique opportunity for kids and teenagers to engage in simulated astronaut training, which is both educational and inspiring. The U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville is a must-visit for anyone interested in space and science. It offers an enriching experience that is both educational and entertaining. Whether you're a space enthusiast or just curious about the final frontier, this center will not disappoint.

This place is awesome! I was here alone and spent about 2.5 hours, if I had my kids I would have been here most of the day, really cool to see the ISS exhibit and be able to walk under some of the huge rockets

Richard Miller — Google review

This is a decent place to bring young children for an outing. I came during the week so it wasn't so crowded for the most part. Planetarium show was okay, wasn't as exciting as we thought. But worth the $10 while there. Good amount of information regarding space and replica models.

It’s a nice and interesting visit that lasts around 3.5 hours.Unfortunately, many things are in poor condition and in need of renovation. We see that the first building is oldAnd there is work in progress that seems to be done in a somewhat haphazard manner.2 attractions were closed without financial compensation. There are simulators to pay extra and the planetarium is also extra! While the price of entry is frankly not cheap! It's still an educational visit for young and old, but a slightly lower price would be fairer.

What a Great place to spend the Day! So much to see and things to do that are apart of the general admission. There is a number of things that are extra but we didn't do them and still enjoyed the day. 5 year old Grandson loved it. Lots of outside things to walk around and see. The parking is free. There is a gift shop and food court as well

pamela oliver — Google review

Such an educational, fun museum. There is SO MUCH to see and do. There are so many interactive things for kids and adults to do. There is so much to see, watch, and experience here. We even got to speak with a rocket scientist who has been doing this for 52 years. It's hard to even summarize the experience. Truly, our nations space history spread out. Lots of walking but worth it.The staff is friendly and efficient at answering questions. There are so many restrooms and easy wheelchair access throughout. You could spend a whole day exploring and finding more facts and information. There are outside exhibits and indoor ones. There are tons of picnic tables outside, and there is a cafe with indoor seating as well.Wear your walking shoes and take lots of pictures. It is something your guests will talk about for years to come.

Tea Street — Google review

If you are a space nerd like me, you will spend all the money, and you will regret nothing, even as they’re renovating right now. One general adult admission ticket was $30. Took about four hours of light sightseeing to cover the museum and the Saturn-V building. This could have easily been the whole day if I went deep in all of the exhibits. They also had actual aerospace engineers wandering around the Saturn-V Instrument Unit display you could ask questions to. (That’s the kind of thing your entry fee is paying for.)Didn’t get to the planetarium this time. Will try for next time. They also have lots of hands-on stuff, and simulators to try out (at an added charge), which I did not partake this time, but looked really cool.Gift shop got me for about $70 in merch on the way out. Very good quality merch, including my new favorite (USA made!) stainless steel water bottle.I’ll happily come back if life brings me back to Huntsville.

Botanical garden

Nature & Parks

Located in Alabama, the Huntsville Botanical Garden is known for its 127 acres of themed gardens and nature trails. The garden features a large open-air butterfly house, nature programs for kids and adults, and seasonal festivals.

Beautiful and Peaceful. Although we went in November still we had a peaceful walk in the park. My son loved the big chairs and picnic bench. We also saw some 🐠 fish. The staff was great. They have a cute gift shop with Okra which was so tasty.😃 Also for families that can’t afford the full price you can get in for $3.00 a person under the museum for all. Make sure to check website for more details.

Beautiful, well kept gardens. Lots of walking trails. Plants are well identified and kept.Staff is very friendly.Butterfly House is beautiful with many varieties of butterflies you can observe up close. If you sit still, you may be lucky enough to have one land on you.The Children's Garden is amazing! There are facilities are well placed throughout the Garden so you are never far from water or restrooms.Lots of shady spots to hang out on hot sunny days.

Beautiful, serene, fun, playful. The customer service was great! Go to the Visitor's Center first and get your 20% off coupon and if you qualify get your Veteran's discount on top of that! We LOVED all the swings and benches. The architecture is beautiful. The origami art installations were wonderful, too! We heard about a wading pool for kids. On our way out, there was live music. Wednesdays, dueing the summer, you can have dinner and music in the park. It's open until dusk. Just a great way to enjoy nature's beauty. Even on a hot day, you can find a breeze and some cool in the shade rocking in a swing or two.

Nicole Davis — Google review

This place is so tranquil! The beautiful flowers, water lands and butterfly house make this place so relaxing. You should give yourself at least an hour or more to fully enjoy the gardens. There are trails, swings, benches, and plenty of photo opportunities.

Megan Posey — Google review

A lovely experience, no matter the time of year. They offer plenty of exciting activities, from gardening classes to floral sales to small orchestral performances. Summertime is the most beautiful for touring the gardens, as everything is in full bloom and the Butterfly House is brimming with butterflies. Christmastime is also special, featuring a festival of lights, holiday music and treats, and a selection of artwork painted by local children. The cafe provides a pleasant breakfast or lunch for a small fee, and the gift shop's fine offerings change to reflect the seasons. This place never gets old for me. I love it here.

N H — Google review

Living in a society that supports education, outdoor activities, and public spaces, it seems almost anachronistic to charge $17 admission and not hand out a paper map. This garden is densely planted, thoughtfully arranged, and offers educational relaxation in the presence of amazing native and imported plants. You see young families swinging with a baby in a hammock, middle aged visitors with huge cameras, children groups, and the odd old couple that stops and stares, always leaving you to wonder if they catch their breaths or ogle at their favorite plant.I have to deduct a star since I came to cross check Trillium species with published descriptions and found the trillium collection not quite living up to its reputation. when I left, I became a member anyways. A place worth my support.

In town for the weekend and the gardens were just a block away! So worth the time to stroll through these beautifully kept gardens! We were there during the Stickworks and swing displays and they were fun to find during our exploration of the gardens. The Children's garden and the butterfly pavilion is a must visit while there! Don't miss those! Make sure you bring sunscreen and water! Although there are lots of shady areas out can get quite steamy in the open areas!

Becky Mancuso — Google review

Loved my visit here! An absolutely beautiful location, and we spent at least two hours walking around trying to see everything the garden had to offer, and I know we still didn't manage to see everything! I definitely recommend going! The butterfly house was so cute and I loved the origami art all around.

Anna Hughes — Google review

We went on Memorial Day weekend and enjoyed a relaxing day there. We missed several of the flowers blooming, but there were still plenty to see. They make sure there is plenty of seating of various types to stop, relax, and enjoy the view. There is a children's play area to give them a chance to run off some extra energy while the parents sit in the shade. The butterfly house sits right beside it and is a nice exhibit.

Calm and beautiful place to spend your time with or without the kiddos! I have 3 and we all had a pleasant time admiring the views and playing about the trails. It's a good way to get in some walking that is beautiful at every time of the year. Their events are cute too if you ever come in the fall look for the Scarecrow trail the kiddos like that as well as their Christmas lights!

Nice place - very similar to Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL. Exceptional visitor center, walkways through the gardens and lush trees. They have weddings there too in beautiful settings. Flowers in spring are spectacular!

This is an experience in Huntsville that you CAN NOT pass up. I went during the summer and I would love to come back in the spring. Absolutely beautiful, a large variety of plants. The butterfly garden is very tranquil. The aquatic garden has a beautiful walkway and there is a play area for children. There are several locations among the trees that have places to sit and take in the surroundings. Also, there is a cafe on the grounds. I would suggest making sure you bring a water bottle to be prepared for the heat if you are going during the summer.

Great little gem in the area. The gardens are well maintained, user friendly, have lots of places that patrons can stop and relax, and many areas offer shade which is fantastic during the hot months. Definitely plan on spending at least an hour touring the gardens. Highly recommend.

I love this place and you will too! Membership is cheap and you get a lot of other perks with it too! The Purdy butterfly house is my favorite thing to do in the spring/summer, it has such a gorgeous little grotto area!! It's just long enough for a nice walk that isn't tiring. Highly recommend this place and the lovely staff!

Wonderful way to spend a few hours walking and enjoying the beautiful gardens. We visited during late morning. You can take a tour or walk at your own pace. The paths aremostly flat and well maintained. The fauna and exhibits are easily accessible. We saw parents with young and older children and also noticed older folk like ourselves. This is a great way to get outside and enjoy nature in a beautiful setting.

Really beautiful place. Decided to visit here as we were in the area to visit the space center. This place has a surprisingly large children's garden with different themes and also an area where there are small houses. My 8 and 9 year olds loved this place and the turtles that swam in the pond. Lots of scarecrow displays that showcased the autumn season and local organizations. Will come back for sure.

John Lin — Google review

Beautiful Saturday! I decided to stop in while passing through the area. What a lovely botanical garden! It's not the peak season but the fall decorations were plentiful and made it feel festive. There were scarecrows of varying kinds all over, as well as LOTS of pumpkins and gourds. Thoroughly enjoyable.

D Mayberry — Google review

I travel a lot and love going to botanical gardens wherever I go. 95% of places I have been are free with a small exception requesting donations of around $5-$8 which I think is reasonable. This place wants $20 just to walk through. Not a guided tour. No other services than just walking there. I was stupefied. I would have considered maybe $10 but wow. There is a part of me that thinks the ticket price is intentionally high to discourage low-income (usually minority) folks from being present which I hear is an issue in Huntsville. Just go to a park or the much larger gardens in Birmingham which is FREE.

Brian Sorrells — Google review

" a green oasis with year round activities". Yeah right. We went today and not a single plant was a live. It was all baren plots. The Christmas lights and decorations were still up, and half the park was closed due to construction. No signs to indicate this. Just giant trucks driving on the roads and digging up plots. We were not told everything was dead, and the people at the desk were happy to still charge us $75 for this experience. Don't get me wrong. They were very polite. But we completely wasted our time and money in wandering an acre or so of grass and trees. We expected greenhouses or something worth our time. Nope.

Water & Amusem*nt Parks

The Point Mallard Park is a sprawling city park with a golf course, an ice rink, and other outdoor activities. It also has a waterpark with an Olympic-sized pool, a new lazy river, speed slides, squirt factory, duck pond and slide. There are also flume tubes and sand beaches nearby.

This was the 1st time I went to the Hot Air Balloon Jubilee Festival! It was absolutely amazing. The balloons were spectacular..There were thousands of people there, and everyone was enjoying the festivities..Families brought their children, parents, and pet's..Everyone was laughing, singing, dancing! There were all different kinds of food vendors, vendors selling souvenirs..It was amazing watching the balloons air up, and some were riding people. Some were flying up and around..There was no one trying to take the fun out of the day!It was honestly the best time I'd had in a long time! There was no violence of any kind, thank goodness. These days and times, the way people want to go around shooting in crowds and killing innocent people it almost makes you scared to go anywhere anymore!I'm so thankful and happy the whole Memorial weekend was awesome! We only went on Saturday but it was absolutely wonderful, we spent just about all day and enjoyed every moment of it...It was my boyfriend and I with our precious puppy, and we all loved it ❤️I'm already looking forward to next year!!God bless and thanks for such a wonderful day 🙏

My family loves to come here during the summer...It has something for all age groups. Im not a fan of their restroom/changing areas but what do you expect at a waterpark where everyone is wet and sweaty. Other than the restrooms I would say its pretty clean. I love the option of renting a cabana by the lazy river, it came in handy with the younger kids wanting a spot out of the sun to take a break and it was only $20.00 to rent for the entire day. Dont waist your money renting floats because we were told (by the lady at the rental station) there were abandoned floats all over the park so if you see some just setting around that nobody has been using just help yourself.

Bike trail was excellent meandering around the water and the golf course. Relatively flat with a lot of good views. Crushed gravel for the most part of the ride I took with a couple of nine-year-old boys on their bikes— and we did about 45 minutes worth. (just over 20 minutes in one direction before turning back to where we had parked at a pavilion area)

Daniel Hunt — Google review

Seemed like a lot of money for a mediocre water park. Can't wear goggles in anything and the locker rentals were a joke. We paid $8 for a locker that had the lock broken off and someone else's things in it. We were told they couldn't do a refund! The lifeguards definitely seemed whistle happy and eager to yell at people. After waiting for 45 minutes due to lightning, we ended up leaving.

so so fun but mostly came for the toilet bowl but it wasn’t open and some of the staff that were working around that area were very mean to me i know i’m on the bigger side but they didn’t have to point it out when i was going down the 3 sides i got on the float and he said “wow ur a little heavy can u scoot up” i’m only 15 and i really took that personally i would have scooted up by myself anyways but yeah i had fun with my friends met some new people it was great

Visited for Memorial Day weekend and the annual Jubilee show. Unfortunately not too many balloons went up when we were there. Traffic was a pain but not the nightmare one would think it would be. Many vendors though the food there was subpar, car show was a lot of fun as well. Overall, I recommend to get there very early and bring your own food or eat before going.

Great value for the water park if you buy a season pass and cup at the beginning of the year. Water park has plenty of attractions for all ages and all day fun. The festivals at Memorial Day and July 4th are great with hot air balloons, fireworks, car shows and more.

The water park section had a lot more than I expected. Wave pool, tube slides, lazy river, and splash pads and kiddie areas. This is a great deal for weekdays, $10 for adults. Prices for food and drinks isn’t bad at all. We will definitely be bringing the kids more this summer.

Nature & Wildlife Areas

Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge is a protected area with habitats that offer a diversity of wildlife. It's great for photography and bird watching, and easy to get to. Highly recommended if you're looking for an easy day out in nature!

Like many national parks and refuges it is all about the amazing people who work there. I was there in between bird migrations, but the rangers were helpful and informative. We had a great couple of walks. Also similar to other national areas, don't let the website turn you off. It's a little cumbersome, but this is a great stop and could be amazing if you time your trip better than I did.

Nancy Osborne — Google review

We showed up about 30 minutes before it opened thinking we could walk the trail until it opened, but the gate was locked so we couldn't even get to the trail. We looked at the cranes a little while and read the info on the sign at the entrance, and as we were getting ready to leave, the gentleman who worked there showed up (still 20 minutes before it was supposed to open) and unlocked the gate for us. He had us drive in first because all the cranes were all along the road on the way to the visitors center, and he wanted us to get to see them up close before cars scared them away. He then walked us to the observation deck and told us about the sand hill cranes and the whooping cranes. We were amazed at how many sand hill cranes we got to see! He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to answer any question we had. Overall a great experience.

Jaime Justice — Google review

I go there often to see the migratory birds such as cranes and white pelicans. I do wish they had more hiking trails, but there are more than there used to be. We kayak there also and there are alligators. It’s a beautiful refuge.

Kim Shelton — Google review

We’ve visited twice in a week because we love it that much! The Visitor Center is so well done and thoughtfully crafted to look beautiful and also share useful information in fun ways, especially for children. The volunteers there are so kind and glad to see the kids excited about the wildlife and the landscapes, and are so helpful and informative. A wonderful field trip for homeschoolers, we went the last week of January and first of February and there were still lots of beautiful sandhill cranes, and even a whooping crane both times. The viewing building where you are able to watch the cranes out by the water is so serene and wonderfully done, you feel immersed in the natural beauty. Trails with a storybook to follow along as you go, and bird blinds for more viewing around the visitor center made it a rich homeschooling day full of exploring and enjoying the cranes and part of the refuge. 10/10 recommend.

Faith Russell — Google review

Great place to birdwatch. We went to see the Sandhill and Whooping cranes. We also saw white pelicans and Gulls. An added bonus was a sunning water snake.

Max Jolley — Google review

We caught the height of Sandhill cranes visiting there for the winter or stopping through. The new trails and viewing spots are great. Thanks

Jody Bowhay — Google review

While I love the Sandhill Cranes, at this point I am more interested in other great wildlife spread over thousands of acres. The new walking / biking trail extends through the woods east of the visitor center before joining the road to Densmore slough. On a 2 hour walk a week ago, I saw over 15 different birds (including some more unusual like Brown Creeper and Yellow-breasted Sapsucker) walking the trail after a brief visit to the Cranes near the visitor center. I like the new blind but wish some provision could also be made for a blind on the observation tower end. The Whooping Cranes, when present, seem to favor that side. The glass front of the tower badly distorts pictures from the tower. I highly recommend the new trail for a chance to spot birds, squirrels, deer and racoons! The ranger staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful, especially for new visitors. Once the new visitor center renovatioon and education pavalion are completed in a few months, this will be a real jewel!

D Boyd — Google review

This is the place to go if you are a fan of photography and/or bird watching. Bring a good zoom lens or pair of binoculars and enjoy the two-story indoor bird watching room! There's also a short trail to walk around and see wildlife, with plenty of space to sit and relax and enjoy the views. Very easy to get to, easy to park, highly recommended if you want a relaxing day of watching nature, especially birds.

Joe DiNoto — Google review

Lotsa trash so we try to bring a garbage bag and gloves to clean up everytime we fish! Forgot last time and it was really bad! But the fishing is good and the peacefulness is priceless! Just keep an eye out for the gators and you'll be golden!

Jessica Johnson — Google review

Wheeler National wildlife refuges is one of the nicest places to view waterfowl in America. Every kind of waterfowl can be seen here from the observatory to the blinds. I've never seen so many cranes in one place. It's free and a must see for bird lovers

Phillip Casteel — Google review

An easily overlooked but beautiful piece of nature. Stop to see the cranes(in season: Nov-Feb) or just for some peaceful walking, a picnic or getting some photos.

Clark L — Google review

We came to the visitors center because we saw on their Facebook page that the cranes had begun to return to the refuge for the winter. We did see cranes, but we were told that we were a little early for the big flocks of cranes. We enjoyed the experience, anyway, and plan to come back for the festival in January.

Mickey Berry — Google review

Absolutely amazing place to watch winter migrating birds. Hundreds of sandhill cranes can be seen. If you are lucky, you can even spot a whooping crane or two. They also get white pelicans and other water birds. Parking is ample at the visitor center and there are a variety of bird blinds built around the grounds.

Harmony Park Safari is a 30-acre wildlife preserve in Huntsville, Alabama, that is home to a variety of free-roaming exotic and endangered animals. The park is family-friendly and open from March to November (including holidays).

Wonderful place. Our great granddaughter is two. We thought she would be afraid. She loved the animals. She didn't want to leave. This is a day trip worth taking.

Elaine Childers — Google review

Pretty cool place to visit. The animals are used to cars feeding them, so they will swarm your car and if your windows are down they will be all up in your car. Was hoping for more variety of animals, it's mostly deer and emu. There are some variants of cattle, a few miniature horses and a bunch of pigs. There is a giraffe, which is cool, but he stayed pretty close to his pen.The animals with horns/antlers did a great job of minding their closeness to the car. They got super close, but didn't have any issues with them scratching the paint (I was super worried about that.)

Leland Gray — Google review

This place is amazing, I took my fourteen your old daughter, and we had a blast it was so much fun so many friendly interactive animals, I would definitely go back again highly recommend it for anybody of all ages to check this place out you will not regret it I can guarantee you that. Literally some of the best fun I’ve had in so long.

The Purger — Google review

Had an awesome time here with the family. The kids loved feeding the animals. We're sorry It took us as long as it did to check this place out. We'd definitely recommend paying them a visit!

Jessica Holmes — Google review

Animals were very sweet and all came to meet us in the car. There was plenty of food to go around and a bunch of the deers just followed our car along which was fun. We had a great time.

Jean-Claude Martin — Google review

A bit smaller than expected, and with fewer animal types than we'd hoped. Still a nice time - lots of laughter, squeals of delight, and excitement. We didn't even have any kids with us on this trip yet still had fun. Definitely worth the price, even with slightly expensive animal feed. I mean, how often do you get to interact with llamas / alpacas, exotic deer big & small, cows and bulls with enormously long horns (red, long haired highland cattle & Ankole - Watusi breed)...And many others!?!

Billy Ross — Google review

We enjoyed feeding the animals. I was disappointed that there was no giraffe or highlander cow and they have closed all the walking attractions. No reptile attraction or tortoises. You can not get put og ypur car for any pictures anywhere. When I asked questions about it to see if it was permanent, the woman seemed annoyed. We did enjoy the cows, emus and llamas. Just wished we new giraffe was gone and some attractions closed.

Heather Harlin — Google review

Took my kids and it was smaller then expected but so worth it, we went around twice to enjoy all the animals and feeding them. Some do get aggressive when you stop feeding but it was a wonderful experience and my kids absolutely loved it.

Shetiga Northcutt — Google review

Absolutely an experience! Had allot of feelings about this place but I can say it was really fun. I won't be going back because of the long horns scratching my car I buffed out what I could but it's not worth getting more. Also the long horns were very aggressive and the horns got a little too close for comfort once coming in the car window about half a foot from my passengers chest. Would love to do it again but the scratches from the long horns is not worth it. All that being said I'm glad I went because it was truly a real up close experience with exotic animals!

Asmond Hawk — Google review

I took my daughters and their friend here for the first time and we had an awesome time. I definitely recommend checking it out. We fed the animals and even got to pet a few. With Covid, we weren’t allowed to get out of the car and explore but we still had a great time. The staff was super nice and explained everything when we arrived. I will be visiting again very soon.

Keyshia Bell — Google review

Amazing!!! It was so much fun! I think a little more emphasis should be placed on what the rules are instead of just being handed a piece of paper. We bought the bucket of food and had a great time! Only thing we would do differently is RENT one of their vehicles! The animals will jump on your car, slobber etc. Renting a car would have been less of a hassle. Also the camel is pretty aggressive so watch out for that.

Religious destination

Selection of 125 religious & historic miniature buildings crafted by a monk in a 4-acre park.

The grotto is a classic folk art spot associated with a monastery in Alabama everyone should visit. The art is laid out along a loop through an old quarry. There are plaques with information on each. The path is paved with significant hills going in and coming out. The gift shop offers fresh baked goods made at the monastery. Definitely walk over to the chapel to join the monks chanting prayers.

Shannon Carden — Google review

What a fun experience. The details of these miniatures are just amazing. Well worth visiting. Doesn't take long to go through, maybe 30 - 40 minutes. There's even benches if you want to sit and reflect.

Kim M — Google review

First time visiting and loved it. Beautiful little garden! We enjoyed it very much. They also offer discount for first responders. Definitely recommend getting there early before it gets busy. Most likely will go back to visit. Have a camera ready because you will want memories from this place.

C N — Google review

Definitely chat with the lady up front about the history of the place. I really enjoyed hearing her speak to another group. Helps you appreciate it more. The grotto can get crowded easily as the sculptures are fairly close together. Grab a pamphlet so you know what to look for and catch some info about each creation. Don't skip the graveyard area. It's tucked away and you'll miss it if you're not looking out. Strollers are allowed but I can understand why wheelchairs are not. There are some steep gradients to navigate and may be a recipe for disaster especially after rain/weather events.

Laura Evanochko — Google review

This place is beautiful. The detail put into everything was awesome. We really enjoyed it.

Pamela Tanner — Google review

This place has been on my Mother's must see list for many years. We finally got to see it this week. And, it was Amazing!!! The intricate details of each display and the peacefulness of the gardens were so worth the wait and time.We took so many pictures, I can't even post them all. I highly recommend it to everyone, see it for yourselves. You won't be disappointed.

Gala La Baud — Google review

We stopped by on the way to the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament to check out their gift shop and were pleasantly surprised! The gift shop had more items than we thought it would! This is a great place for religious items and resources! We left with a statue to place outside of our home and a few pieces for the inside as well! The Ave Maria Grotto is worth a trip in itself! We look forward to coming back and checking out the whole property soon!

Dash Merritt — Google review

After hearing about this place for years, I finally checked it out. The miniature structures are absolutely gorgeous and so ingenious. You've never seen anything like it because the materials are so eclectic. Glass, shells, jewelry, various stones and pieces of broken plates and pottery are all combined to form these extraordinarily unique replicas. Brother Joseph Zoettl created all of these structures by himself, before the internet and without formal artistic training. Just incredible. I also bought some cinnamon raisin bread baked by the monks. It's yummy!

Olivia Funkhouser — Google review

Walked trail at night. Awesome sights each was structured to be exact copies. We also road the night horse and buggy tour. I recommend this visit be on your bucket list. Going again soon. Mother and daughter trip.

Nancy McDonald — Google review

Wow! I'm so amazed that someone took so much time and spend so many of their days to make such an extraordinary beautiful work to look at! The replicas were down to the t. I loved it and so did my wife! Definitely a great place to take the kids or anyone that's any type of history buff.

John Taylor — Google review

Good place for detail lovers or architectural lovers. Lot of details of work on the building and structures. It also had historic places, 7 wonders of the world, except India. So, I was little upset about that. I feel that tickets could be little cheaper, because they failed to maintain the place well. The structure has spider web and dust all over the building.

Malathy Djeacoumar — Google review

The grotto and surrounding grounds of St. Bernard are a relaxing getaway for anyone. The miniature replicas of famous places will fascinate children and adults alike. Take your time and read the brochure as you leisurely stroll along the shady winding path. Sit on a bench and relax. Take the time to admire the detail of the craftsmanship and let the kids try to pick out all the odd materials used to create the artistry; marbles, shells, jars, old flashlight parts, and more. The gift shop is nice with a lot of quality items. Don't forget to check out the other public areas around St. Bernard.

Stephen — Google review

This place is worth a visit if you are passing through or live nearby. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. The tour is a self guided walk so you can go at your own pace. It is NOT a modern attraction.

Kathleen Janneck — Google review

This was really cool. Very detailed work and it's amazing a guy just did this. Entry fee wasn't bad and it was a great experience. If your in the area it's worth a walk through!

Jason m — Google review

So peaceful and restful. The miniatures are amazing! Worth the price of admission.

Sue Luckie — Google review

Absolutely gorgeous landmark with lots of history. Well worth driving to this place and taking a tour and reading about how it was built . They have a beautiful beautiful display during Christmas time and Easter is just stunning. We used to go to the morning sunrise service. There is also a gift shop. I would say that the little outdoor tour could be somewhat strenuous if you were trying to push a stroller or if you have knee or back problems but it’s definitely not a hiking trail. Just a nice little stroll ..absolutely gorgeous.. They even earned a spot on Cullmanopoly!

-Shenanigans with Shannon - — Google review

Pretty place the miniature buildings are very unique and interesting but they could use some maintenance and TLC on some of them. The church where the Monks are burried was beautiful inside. Tickets for Grotto are $10 for adults and worth it.

Angie Grimme — Google review

It's definitely a worthy side trip even if you're not religious. The work and creativity that had to go into it was impressive. You can leisurely explore the area in just a couple of hours.

Roy — Google review

Just the coolest place to go visit. It definitely blew away our expectations. I don't think you need to be religious to appreciate the work/art put into the individual pieces. Well maintained surrounding area just felt like a nature walk with really cool displays. The pictures/reviews don't do it justice. Make it a stop on your trip, you won't regret it!

This place is absolutely amazing!! I took my 8 year old ( add/adhd/odd ) son here for our weekly weekend family adventure, and he was COMPLETELY amazed!! He was so excited to see what was next in another room, or what was around the corner! He loved it! It is kind of a walk BUT they do have a booth with a bunch of wheelchairs for the elderly!! ( which i was impressed with ) Most places dont offer that, there is MORE than one. This place is one of my FAVORITES NOW!!

Melanie D — Google review

A Heavenly and a spiritually edifying experience. I'm glad photos and video aren't allowed in the shrine-allowing one to immerse in the divide. I loved the multiple sites and shrines on the premises. The grounds are absolutely beautiful.

My Two Cents — Google review

Beautiful! I went on a quiet Friday morning. God was near. The grounds were perfectly manicured. I great place to pray or walk with nature.

General Dexter — Google review

It's a beautiful place with a very holy atmosphere. It's quiet, and so peaceful. The Monstrance they have is huge and so beautiful! It's a beautiful little cathedral/shrine. They also have an exhibit downstairs of the Shroud of Turin and it's breathtaking. Definitely recommend. Their giftshop castle thing is also really cool with a great selection of Catholic gifts.

Elise Brown — Google review

Beautiful shrine away from home and everything else 🤍 a few tips from a first timer: come with an open heart to receive God’s grace, dress modesty, no photos allowed inside the temple, be prepared to spend lots of money at their HUGE gift shop 🫣 follow their social media pages 🙂

I was blown away with the beautiful spirit filled Shrine. I went with my church group and the testimonies have been memorable. Highly recommended for families and friends, away from the stressful activities of the cities. The staff (brothers/sisters) were very friendly and accommodating too.

Highly recommended. Serene religious site conducive for deep spiritual reflection, prayers and retreats. We were wowed when we drove into the magnificent facility

A place of solitude and inspiration. Best enjoyed when one reviews the history of it's founding and stands prepared to relax into the beauty.

What a blessing to the world! This special place is a wonderful pilgrimage for Catholics or anyone seeking a place to go and rest for a while in the presence of Christ. We spent the entire day there. We attended mass in the lower church, went to confession in the chapel, participated in Eucharistic Adoration, and 2 tours- one of the Shrine and the other of the St. John Paul Eucharistic Center. We also loved their gift shop. My sisters and I highly recommend visiting here.

Jodi Boschert — Google review

Amazing place. Great experience. If I lived closer, I would visit it often.

Jesse Rios — Google review

I love going here and just don't get to enough. I have truly had life changing experiences at this shrine. Including a time when the sisters devoted one day of prayer to young boy who had cancer. With God's grace, he was cured. However, if you go there, you will most assuredly discover the Devine Mercy of our Lord, especially in the Child Jesus. I can't stress enough how much you will be in awe with Christ's peace here. Please come here if you can, you can also pray at the resting place of dear Mother Angelica. I could spend days here.

Neil McCloskey — Google review

Amazing place to come for a weekend retreat. The grounds are huge. There is a main church as well as a crypt church for masses. There's also separate area for adoration. There is a room with life size nativity scene with year round Christmas music. There's an outdoor station of the cross with the last station of Jesus on the cross that will send chills on your skin. There is a Eucharistic center with dedication to Pope John Paul. The architecture from outside to inside is just so detailed. You'll leave with a sense of peace and tranquility as well as a closeness to Jesus.

Research institute

The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute is a museum that tells the history of the 1960s Civil Rights Movement and other human rights issues in the United States. It has permanent exhibits on both the past and present of human rights, as well as various other galleries and meeting rooms.

My wife and I, a retired cop and nurse had the distinct pleasure of making the acquaintance of Marshay Webb, BCRI Operations Manager today. Sometimes it's hard to believe that these events occurred during our lifetimes ? It's a graphic illustration that it did. Soon my generation will be gone and the institutional knowledge will go with us. But your Museum will continue to share this knowledge. Thank you for letting us enjoy your beautiful interpretive Museum!

Brian B — Google review

Thoroughly told the history. Difficult to watch the videos and see the images, however necessary, as this is part of US history. My daughters are 8 and 11. They struggled at parts, as it was challenging for them to see images and hear certain aspects, but thankful they are learning now what happened in our country.

Melissa Ottaway — Google review

Fascinating and moving museum. The exhibits are thoughtful and well executed, and the facility well-designed for both education and reflection. The history here is both local and touched the world. Some of the other reviews on here are baffling. This isn't a theme park. It's not supposed to entertain you. Wouldn't recommend for younger kids; there's not much for them. Otherwise this is a must-visit in Birmingham.

Timothy Flathers — Google review

Wonderful museum, right in the heart of one of the most dramatic scenes of the civil rights movement. Give yourself a couple of hours at least; worth the visit. The exhibits were powerful and informative. Learned a lot.

Shannon Garcia — Google review

Amazing exhibits with lots of beautiful art pieces. A must-see stop if you're in Birmingham, along with the 16th St. Church

Julia DeWitt — Google review

I'm not from the USA and we drove though Alabama today and then visited this museum. And I found it incredibly beautiful yet also confrontational. The museum is very well done and builds up well. I am not an emotional person but this museum actually made me cry and I really needed a break halfway to process the Incredible horror that was (and perhaps still is) done to people. Especially considering what I saw driving through Alabama earlier today it made me angry about the injustice that still exists, the ignorance of people waving around their "confederate flags". But I was also really impressed with the strength of the people who where able to stand up for justice and equality in the way they did. The staff was super friendly and I would absolutely recommend to visit this museum. My only comment would be that there should be an expansion to display the ongoing struggle, and the gift shop could be improved too.

Jelle Zethof — Google review

Everytime we go out of town we look for educational museums and places to visit that talk about our history. This place didn't disappoint. Even though we've been to several Civil Rights Museums, this one not only focused on the movement but also Birmingham's role. A must visit.

Melissa Moore — Google review

We visited this museum after we went to EJI in Birmingham and to Selma. This museum is the perfect way to end a civil rights tour of Alabama (with the above mentioned museums/sites). The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute brought together and coalesced our previous experiences and knowledge.

Laura Bonneville — Google review

A group of us came here from New York and Atlanta to learn more about and appreciate the civil rights era. This is a very nice museum that is well organized. On the positives, I saw my first KKK uniform in person. There's multiple videos that gives you an overview of the history, especially in Birmingham and Selma. The security staff and ticket booth staff were very pleasant and welcoming. As far as opportunities, it's a little light on original artifacts. Some of the money spent on things like an automatic door to the video room could probably be better spent elsewhere. The staff inside the museum seemed rigid and a little more concerned about going home than educating guests, especially disappointing during this time of the year. I don't fault the humans, but maybe the strategy emphasis should be different.Overall, good museum but could be so much more.

Minh Hua — Google review

The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute is a profound and impactful museum that offers a valuable and educational experience. This historic institution pays tribute to the significant events and individuals who played pivotal roles in the Civil Rights Movement. You will begin with an 8 minute introductory video, then you are transported back in time, surrounded by powerful exhibits and artifacts that chronicle the struggle for equality. The museum's thoughtfully curated displays and interactive elements provide a comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced and victories achieved during this transformative era in American history. The exhibits not only inform but also inspire visitors to reflect on the ongoing fight for justice and equality. The knowledgeable and passionate staff further enrich the experience, providing valuable insights and answering questions with depth and sincerity. A visit to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute is a humbling and thought-provoking journey that leaves a lasting impact, reminding us of the importance of standing up for justice and promoting social change.

Amanda — Google review

A place to visit if you want to know more about Civil Rights. A lesson not to forget.

Fernando Ortega — Google review

Was a very informational museum but you also have to be aware of who funded the museum, who is the audience, and what is the narrative being told? Our director of our Southern Civil Rights Trip taught us to ask those questions to ourselves. He said banks that contributed towards slavery gave money to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute and so their message is fuzzy. Because they are trying to clear their name. There are some things worth seeing and learning here but there was a very confusing display about the KKK. I didn’t get what the display was teaching us because I just felt disgusted seeing real KKK wardrobe (that was anonymously donated said the sign 🙄) and hearing the quotes and phrases on the TV made no sense. It didn’t connect to tell a story or anything. So that was very odd.All in all, I highly recommend going to the Equal Justice Initiative museum (The Legacy Museum) in Montgomery for learning more about history and the Slave Haven Museum in Memphis, TN.

Jessica You — Google review

Beautiful beautiful place. Especially the sunset by the bell in the end, it’s perfectly lined up for a great end to our self guided tour. This museum is well designed to tell a store that anyone can appreciate. We go here on a MLK weekend and it wasn’t busy unfortunately.

Kevin Zeng — Google review

I went here at the beginning of November. I was so grateful my friends and I bought tickets online because it was sold out the day that we went. I highly recommend going to this museum as there is a lot of history that is shared and for us to learn about. Everyone was so kind and helpful, and I encourage you to check out their gift store!

McWane Science Center is a great place for kids to explore science and technology. With permanent exhibits covering a variety of topics, as well as interactive exhibits and programs for children of all ages, there's something for everyone at this Birmingham museum. The grounds also feature an aquarium, World of Water Aquariums, and Itty Bitty Magic City which are perfect spots for little ones to learn about fish and other aquatic creatures.

We love coming to the McWane Science Center! The itty bitty magic city is perfect for my one year old. The center itself is great, especially on a hot day. We also LOVE the new dragon exhibit.

I can’t remember the last time I’d visited this place. It was busy and bustling on a early Saturday afternoon. The staff was cordial and friendly while accommodating customers. The exhibits were pretty cool and informative. Great place to spend an afternoon with the family. The Legos exhibit was my favorite! I love how they incorporated local talent exhibits. Awesome job!

DL Gelpin — Google review

Really enjoyed the center. Wish we would of planned out more time so we could of stayed longer! We were here for 3 hrs with a toddler and a teenager - that definitely was not enough time.

Carrie Newby — Google review

The science museum is an awesome place for a day trip, and the kids loved it. I'm very surprised that it was not busier. It was practically empty. Our kids loved being able to pet the sting rays and the tiny town.We had 1 senior, 2 adults, 2 kids, and parking, and it was around $75.They change features out, so there's something new every few months.

Jon Wieberg — Google review

Absolutely must see if you have any dragon connoisseurs in your family. The 3rd floor is currently mostly a dragon exhibit. Great activities for engagement. The “Wings over Water” iMax documentary is very informative and interesting. The comment about parking are all accurate. It is a tight spot.

Robert Ball Jr — Google review

Fun for the whole family! Lots of ways to learn. While we were there my daughter was able to hold a sea anemone, pet a sea star, learn about various topics from the staff doing demonstrations, and use all of the wonderful interactive exhibits. There's a sting ray and shark petting tank which is a great experience as well! Added bonus with the IMAX in the building! Definitely get yourself a ticket. We highly enjoyed the Safari movie in the IMAX dome and felt like we were there with the animals! I cannot wait to go back again. Would even make for a fun date night!

Christina Kay — Google review

There’s a little bit of everything for the whole family. We visited at the beginning of September while on vacation. We enjoyed it so much we were there until it closed. There’s are like 4 floors of activities but my daughter definitely favored the Magic City exhibit. If you have kids this is a must do while in Birmingham!

Ana Garcia — Google review

Plenty to do here. There are stairs & an elevator if needed. There is a small food cafe but it closed before I could try it. You will get a token at the counter if you used the parking deck & it's like a dollar off the rate.

M. John — Google review

The first floor is wonderful for young kids to explore and have a lot of fun. Third floor dragons were absolutely amazing. The aquarium in the basem*nt was a bit disappointing. One of the sharks had a big sore.

Nancy Taylor — Google review

The younger your kids are, the more they will enjoy it. All 4 floors are interactive. The "build your own" 4th floor was my 10 year old favorite. Really love the idea of chairs for the adults to use while the kids play.

Tracey P — Google review

Went there for a boy scout camp where we slept inside of the museum. I had no idea what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised at the balance of learning and fun activities for my son. The Imax was pretty good as well. The parking garage is a little scary though. Worth the trip, maybe even if you don't have kids!

wayne sanford — Google review

We had a blast! Best place to bring your kids on a rainy or even too hot day.

Jessica Taylor — Google review

I can't give this place enough stars. They need more than 5. They have so much to do and sensory rooms and special needs tools. It's fun for all ages. I brought a toddler and a teenager, we all three had an absolute blast and are making plans to go again.

Vanessa skripko — Google review

We had the best time exploring and learning here! Lots of activities for 5yo, teens and parents to enjoy! As noted buy others the parking garage is sketchy and had I had a larger vehicle would not attemp. We ate lunch at the Cafe. That I wouldn't recommend at all. Way overpriced for what you are getting, bland and everything we tried had a weird taste to it. I wish we had packed a lunch and definitely will next time we vist.

Stephanie Gonce — Google review

Fun classes! We got to take 2 coding classes and the kids were very engaged. We were sad there was no documentary on the IMAX the last time we visited because we were not able to fully utilize our movie lovers membership.

Donna Satterlee Ross — Google review

This place is fantastic for the kids. You will need an entire day to explore and observe the center. It has some things to do, the kids wont get bored. It is divided in three sections. First floor is science and very hands- on. The second they have dinosour exhibit. They have a dedicated area for kids 6 years old under, and it is very pretty. It is worth your time and money. I had been different kids museum but this one has everything in one.

Bris Ideas — Google review

A bit dated, wish they would update and repair some stations. Give the older kids more variety 😉. The younger kids have it made in the shade they have an amazing play place with different very detailed stations.

MO Mules — Google review

Was worse experience I had there been a bunch over the years,4 kids 5 grandkids. But the staff was rude .. the age difference in groups of school age was inappropriate to be honest I wouldn't let another grandchild go without their own adult and my granddaughter was 9 I have one. 12 going next week and I hate to go again but I want let her go without an adult... Otherwise first time I touched a stingray.

Kelli Love — Google review

A Huge aquarium, a tank to touch rays, kinetic interactive exhibits, an In-Door self-generating tornado, 5yo and below kids exhibits with interactive water vortexes, and much more. FULL STARS!

David Moreno — Google review

They do a great job at providing a place for your kids (and you) to explore, learn, and have fun while they are at it. It’s great for all ages! I’ve been going there for years, both as a child and with children. It’s also a great place for field trips. They have really cool temporary exhibits that come and go as well. I loved when they had the giant Lego room and you could build and race Lego cars down big ramps. We highly recommend McWane.

The Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum is home to an astonishing array of motorbikes, dating back over a century of production. The museum also features a 16-turn road course, which is used by Grand-Am Racing Series and AMA Superbike.

Still absolutely in awe of the place. As a motorcycle enthusiast, there was so much to see. Everything was placed well so pictures weren't crowded or difficult to take. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the museum clean and nice. I would have liked to spent several days there as there is just so much to see. Will be a lasting memory, and I highly recommend going.

This is a Motorcycle lovers paradise. They also have vintage cars and race cars. There is an entire area donated to Lotus. The building is designed so beautifully and the motorcycles and vehicles are very well kept. You would probably need to spend 4-5 hours to view Museum thoroughly. They also have a nice gift shop. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is also a track at location. This day a private club was using it.I paid $33 total online for 2 tickets. If you would like 10% military discount you have to wait to pay on site. There is no military discount at store.Recommend visiting if in the area!!!

Amazing museum at the Barber Raceway. Enormous collection of mostly motorcycles. Also has some glimpses of the working racing research and design areas. If you plan to read every placard for each item you will need several hours. "There is just so much!", was the constant refrain as we toured.

Andrew Cembor — Google review

I was absolutely blown away by this museum. They have thousands of bikes there on display. Bikes I've never heard of before and all of my favorite motorcycle producers like Indian and Harley-Davidson. They also have a racetrack out back where you can watch races or pay to drive one of their vehicles or your own at high speeds. There are five floors of display

Stephen — Google review

Superb museum! Never a huge fan of motorcycles before I walked in, but one just can't help becoming one after walking out. The collection is unreal, going back to late 1800s, from all over the world to boot. Plus you can see a race, if they have one when you visit, which makes the place that much more memorable.

Berele — Google review

One of the nicest collections of motorcycles I have ever seen. If you like all generations and makes and models of motorcycles, you will love it. The history in this building is amazing. Take an audio tour if you can. There is 5 levels of exhibits, ample bathrooms, a banquet area for conferences and corporate gatherings. State of the art facility. Definitely for the motorcycle history buff.

There isn't anything I can truly say to make this museum better than it already is. It is beautiful! It is by far one of the most precise and excellently built interior structures for a motor or auto museum I have ever seen in my life. It is pretty breathtaking and wonderful to see. Pictures don't do it justice. I highly recommend you visiting and seeing amazing history.

Curtis McGhee Jr. — Google review

Incredible volume of vehicles. Vintage and historic motorcycles and automobiles, racing and street stock. Find the $9 Million Britten and $4 Million Bentley. This is less than half the overall inventory! There is a race track for interested drivers. This is an unbelievable collection. Finally, find the Y2K turbine motorcycle and the Lotus family letter affirming Barber's largest collection of Lotus car collection.

My family and I took a last-minute getaway to Birmingham and stumbled upon the Barber Musuem. The facility and grounds were extremely clean and very well laid out. And the workers and everyone we spoke to were all very friendly. I especially loved being able to watch our 2 year olds son's face as we were able to walk over the race track and see the motorcycles out racing. Even if you are not a motorcycle enthusiast, this is definitely worth a visit. We will be back!!

This place is mind boggling! So cool! I'm not particularly into motorcycles, but my buddy who I went on vacation with suggested we go there. I was amazed how much I thoroughly enjoyed myself. They have every kind of motorcycle imaginable, but also a large collection of boat motors, race cars, and antique cars.

Paul Jacobs — Google review

This place was amazing - the incredible detail put into this place, the number of motorcycles, the unique layout of the building, the history of the bikes and cars! My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the 4 hours we spent walking through the display and observing the cars on the awesome track outside. Even with the July heat, we loved being able to stand on the bridges over the track as the cars raced around. They even have a lovely wooded path that leads to a gazebo where we sat for a bit. This large wooded area is in the middle of the winding track.

Sue Crossland — Google review

Wonderful and extensive exhibit, very clean and easy to get around. Even if you're not a motorcycle fanatic, I think you'd enjoy the place. It's also very clean and the AC is a nice break from the hot Bama weather.

Nelson Badia — Google review

This museum is an experience! There’s a ton to see and do. It’s not a boring old motorcycle place just for boys! It’s displayed in such a way that it’s interesting, informative and awesome! Come on a day when the cars are racing and stand on the glass panels in the bridge and watch the cars fly by beneath your feet!!

Jennifer Tucker — Google review

If you love anything with wheels- it's a must see- and if you don't care about anything with wheels- its a must see! Take the time to enjoy this amazing museum! The history is great and the personality of the entire experience is one of a kind. The staff is incredibly kind and inviting. The track is so cool, and the beautiful gardens with the koi pond and waterfall is great! Definitely worth the ticket price and the time! We spent 3+ hours here.

If you have even the slightest interest in motorcycles, then the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum is nothing short of a pilgrimage you must make. I've visited this awe-inspiring museum four times, and even that doesn't feel sufficient to fully appreciate the grandeur of its collection. With over 1,600 vintage and modern motorcycles and racing cars on display, this place is truly the Guggenheim of motorcycles. The collection spans from 1904 to the present and includes bikes from 16 different countries, representing over 140 different marques. More than 900 motorcycles are on display at any given time, so you can imagine the scale of this monumental endeavor. This museum isn't just a showcase; it's a love letter to the world of motorcycling. With bikes hailing from as far away as Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden, the diversity and depth of the collection are unparalleled. It's no wonder that this Birmingham, Alabama gem is considered the largest motorcycle museum in the world.

Wow is the only word to explain this place, the magnitude, the sheer size of this place is huge. So many cars, motorcycles, cars racing was magnificent. This place is spotless, staff was great and very informative. Had a great time visiting and definitely worth the visit. Hope to be back soon.

Jorge Garcia — Google review

This place is amazing. If you are a motorcycle enthusiast, doubly so. They have a huge, beautiful collection of motorcycles. Ranging from the late 1800's, to current production bikes, and everything in between. They also have plenty of cars, with a large display focused on Lotus vehicles, as well as a few other interesting items like outboard motors. The grounds outside by the race track are beautifully landscaped, and there is a trail you can walk with various pieces of artwork throughout a wooded setting. This is the best vehicle museum I have ever been to. Now I just need to get down there when there is a race on their track to complete the experience.

Benton Tackitt — Google review

5 stories of vintage to new motorcycles, race cars, boat engines, drag vehicles, and bicycles. Large conference/dining facilities, bathrooms on most levels, and very clean. Parking is spacious and plan to stay for a few hours at a minimum.

Andy Shizak — Google review

Even if you’re not a motorcycle/automotive enthusiast, you will be impressed with this collection and how everything is visually presented. Hats off to whoever did the internal structural design and the layout of each vehicle. The staff was super nice, We had a great time including a fantastic tour with Michael. Will definitely be back again.

Michael Farmer — Google review

Great place to kill time and really enjoy the history of the motor vehicle. Loved learning new things especially about the original Harley Davidson office that was burned down by accident! Even had a mini theater to inform everyone about the history of the first motor race and how we got to racing as it is today.

Five floors to enjoy. We visited in December.. In total love with all motorcycles! What a great way to spend the day.We have been telling everyone we know that if ever in the area this is a must see!

What a collection! If you or someone you love, loves anything that has wheels on it, this is a must! My entire family was in awe with everything there!Brice, a new employee of 3 months couldn’t rant more about how much he loved working there, and how great the owner was. He even mentioned the owner knows all the employees by name! He mentioned he’s looking to save his money working there to buy a bike on display! Loved his passion and excitement!Brice overheard how much my husband, 12 and 2 year old wanted to see the Shelby 1000, he looked at his watch and told us, I’ve got 5 minutes, follow me! He gave us a private tour and my family was through the moon about it!We had an amazing time, would highly recommend! Thanks Brice for an unforgettable experience!

Fabulous facility! The facility was very clean and modern. Outstanding collection of motorcycles from all decades and countries. Cars were mainly racing. Motorcycles were primarily clean and restored to factory appearance. Displays very professional.

Museum

Sights & Landmarks

The Vulcan Park and Museum sits atop Red Mountain, encompassing a green space and an interactive museum detailing the city's industrial past. You can visit the park or take the elevator to the observation tower for panoramic views of Birmingham.

I love that this was a fun and easy hike up to from 5 points! I didn't get to go exploring the trails, just the museum and statue, but still enjoyed it quite a lot. One $6 ticket allows you into the museum and a ride up the elevator to the feet of the statue (or you also have the option to walk the staircase *inside* the pillar, which is absolutely what I did!). The museum is nicely done, approximately 7-8 rooms with the history of the town, culture, community, and struggles. It also gives a history of why this spot was so important to Birmingham. I would have loved to see more of the cave aspect, but I can only imagine it's not as safe or stable... You get a great overview of the city from even the base of the statue! There are binoculars to use, and a little drink and snack cart (with adult beverages!) to treat yourself after that hike. I loved that they had this really neat bicycle tuning tool near the parking lot! I've never seen anything like it! It had everything you could need to fix anything with your bike. How thoughtful!

Megan Morris — Google review

My friend got married here on a Sunday in April. The venue provided transportation from the parking lot to the event space. The outdoor event space was overlooking the city, and it was breathtaking!! The employees went above and beyond to make the event memorable. Much love from Houston, TX.

Rene Davis — Google review

Small area and average park. Sufficient parking space available. You can see the entire downtown area from the Vulcan statue which is accessible via lift but you need to buy tickets for that. Good location for a morning walk or evening gathering. I didn't see any outlets inside but there is a museum and a small souvenir store inside.

We loved walking around and learning the history of this place. We've been wanting to come here for years and finally got to come. The views from the top are absolutely beautiful and the museum was very informative!!! There is a nice trail too. We will definitely be visiting here again.

Long time favorite place to view the city of Birmingham. We do not go often but have been many times over the decades. Great place to take a date. Nighttime viewing is quite unique. The museum is very informative for a fun day visit. Inexpensive intrance fee. Staff were pleasant. A jewel of a place to visit and bring visiting family.

☆☆☆☆☆ Amazing monument, museum, and history lessons! Treat yourself- visit!! Staffed by friendly and helpful people 🙂 The monument, museum, and grounds are all beautiful, well-maintained, and CLEAN! There is a beautiful well- shaded garden area with CLEAN picnic tables. There are 156 steps to climb to top AND a clean "window"-elevator option as well. We arrived around 1pm and wish we could see it all lit up tonight but we must continue on our road trip within the hour. 🫤 plan at least 1 hour for your visit... have fun!!

We visited last month and really enjoyed our time. We arrived after 6pm so the museum was closed. The gentleman at the booth also informed us that the statue was closed for viewing as they were repairing something that had caused water damage. Nonetheless, we took in the views, watched the sunset, all while my daughter ran around the whole place. Overall, it’s a great place to hang out with a unique view of the city!

Ana Garcia — Google review

Great park to visit. Staff was very friendly, nice, and helpful with any questions. The park was nice and clean, and I had zero issues at all. Looking forward to my next visit!

EliteBiscuit Gaming — Google review

Unexpected, simple beauty. Great museum to learn some history of Birmingham, the Civil Rights movement, how the Vulcan came to be....even co*ke and Pepsi. The park grounds are well manicured. Great views of the city can be had here without even climbing to the Vulcan's highest level. Being able to take the stairs or the glass elevator up the statue is a great option. You are only able to get to the foot of the Vulcan which is still extremely high. Overall a great park.

marcus veazey — Google review

Nice small park. Enjoyed a couple of hours exploring the museum and statue. Hubby & relish learning about the area we are visiting. Lots of reading. Nice green areas where families were picnicking with small children running around. Statue is high up. Hubby enjoyed that better than I. Nice view of Birmingham. Elevator available for anyone that 159 steps is too much for. Which includes us. Lovely staff, very helpful. $5 fee per person was reasonable to assist in upkeep to us.

Nicole Neubauer — Google review

This is a great place to bring kids to fill up an afternoon. The museum is geared for all ages and they have a great scavenger hunt for kids to help keep them engaged. Provides a great overview of Birmingham's deep history.

Alice C. Allen — Google review

We stopped by the Vulcan Park and Museum before it was opened for the day, so I cannot speak to the museum itself. But the huge Vulcan monument is pretty impressive. It is the largest cast iron statue in the world, and is the city symbol of Birmingham, Alabama, United States, reflecting its roots in the iron and steel industry. We also enjoyed viewing the Lone Pine Mine of the same property as well as walking down the old rail bed for the Birmingham Mineral Railroad. It was a good stop for us to see this Birmingham landmark.

Greg Squyres — Google review

Very interesting and informative. Great place to learn a little history and the view of Birmingham is simply amazing. It is free to walk around and only $4 to enter the museum.

Karma Kiss — Google review

Such a clean, nicely manicured park. Easy access and parking. Beautiful views of the city. There is an old mine we stumbled across while overlooking the city views. The mine is from early 1900's.The visitor center is pristine and offers cute gifts and souvenirs. Very clean bathrooms and friendly staff. The tower was closed for Renovations (bummer).

Tea Street — Google review

This place was so beautiful, I even had to donate just to preserve a part of history. From the views of the city to the statue, I was not disappointed! Definitely recommend and tickets are $4 per adult.

Ethell Yarbrough — Google review

I was in Birmingham, Alabama on a business trip and I had a little time before my next flight so I decided to take a quick ride to Vulcan Park and Museum. I was not disappointed! Even though it was an overcast day, the views of the city were very nice and I very much enjoyed the walk through the nice park, the informative signs posted along the way and, of course, the imposing statue of Vulcan, the Roman god of metalworking and forging! Inside, I found a museum that was full of good information about the history of this great working city and birthplace of the civil rights movement. I will sure come back with my family so they can experience this unique place in the history of America.

Carpio Cyprinus — Google review

Amazing views of the city! The statue itself is very cool. Best way to experience it is park for free at the trail parking lot and then walk the stairs up to the statue. No admission and no hassle.

Bamb1 — Google review

Such an amazing experience. Beautiful piece of art. So much of history. Very friendly stuff. The person at the ticket counter gave so much more information about the place and the city. It helped me.Free to walk around the park. Only $5 to check out the museum. Free parking.

Nirmal Das — Google review

Cute little museum located in Birmingham, Alabama that offers majectic views of the city. There was no wait when we went here and not a lot of crowd. Plenty of free parking too. You will learn a lot of history in this small museum and they have activities for kids to do while they are in the museum. The park was huge and peaceful. A must visit place when you are in Birmingham. They have a small gift shop in front of the museum and I say, you’ll need about an hour to see everything.

Water & Amusem*nt Parks

Alabama Adventure & Splash Adventure is a water park located in Bessemer, Alabama. It features slides, a lazy river, and a laser tag maze. There are regular rides as well as attractions suitable for all ages.

My kids love it.. it became our summer spot.Free; drinks, sanitizer and sunscreenGreat environment, clean areas, amazing food and awesome staff.I only wish they can offer family season passes.

Ani Villa — Google review

This was the first time I visited here with my family and we had the best time ever. I purchased our tickets online which was very convenient. There is multiple lockers for usage, but you have to purchase them. There was food vendors and shaded sitting areas to eat and rest. My family really enjoyed it to the fullest. The rides were not operational only the ones for the smaller children. This attraction was worth every penny most definitely will go again.

I love to travel here every summer! 😎👙☀️Alabama splash adventure is cool! I love the new slides, free parking, and free tube use. Food is okay as well. Looking forward to going this summer 2024

Irene Outlaw — Google review

The park was very clean , fully staffed with courteous and respectful workers, and the rides were a lot of fun. The live shows every hour were exciting and entertaining. I would have given less stars only because of all the COVID changes but that is no fault of the park. Just know that there is a cashless system in place ( but you can load a card at kiosks throughout the park as well as the entrance) I was sad to find there were hardly any "shops" open along main street as well as our favorite "old-timey"picture store. I was also looking forward to the newest ride and had no idea it was not opened yet (rocket racer)I really wish that Buzz Saw Falls or similar would come back.I also missed seeing the General as I left .I had hoped to share a picture taken with my grandchildren the year she and her son opened the park. It's only getting better! We usually make the trip once a summer but I may consider the season pass. Great price for everything that is included. (Beverages, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and parking) A definite family park for all ages!

Dana Pugsley — Google review

Had a few rides not working on this visit including the new coaster, rampage is to damn fast for wood gives me a headache on top of wondering if the coaster gone leave the tracks! Splash adventures always sweetSomething to do but over priced if you ask me tickets should be 25 bucks

My 3 year old niece loved the Christmas lights but I personally thought it would be more. Theme was cute from prehistoric dinosaurs to biblical to 12 days of Xmas but I was expecting to be an extravaganza as in bright. Parts of drive was dim. Long line entering because we picked it on a Saturday. Once you enter, cars were pretty stretched out and I didn’t fill rushed. I would recommend purchasing tickets in advance so you can just scan barcodes and go.

Alabama Adventures is lots of fun for the family young or old. If you're in need of anything to do while it's hot out go cool off in Birmingham AL.

Latavia Holmes — Google review

This place has changed alot since I was a teen and worked there. But to be able to enjoy the Rampage with my kids and share stories with them is worth it. As a travel business owner I love taking my girls to all the places I've been and going to places we have never been.

Kendra Spates — Google review

I enjoyed the park. The only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't a lot of rides on the roller coaster side of the park and a lot of the rides that were there weren't open,Especially the kiddie rides. The water side of the parking is where we spent most of the day anyway though.

TBUNZ1977 — Google review

We really enjoyed the wave pool and lazy river! We got there as soon as it opened and the kids rode the water slides over and over. We really enjoyed the amusem*nt park as well. Definitely recommend for family fun! I love that the drinks were free. DON'T bring cash!!

Ashley Cannon — Google review

We haven't been in a few years but we're so impressed with all of the updates and changes. We were not nickel and dimes at every turn. Parking was free, discounts for purchasing our tickets on line was a plus, free drinks all day. Well placed sunscreen stations, lots of shady areas for those of us who can't do sun was a welcome plus. After being given all the free extras, We gladly paid $30 for a pizza that was giagiantic and fed all 6 of us. Rides, shows and wave pools were some of the highlights. Plenty to do and I must say from the entrance to the exit the place was neat and Tidy. We got there at the opening and it wasn't crowded but as the afternoon progressed it did fill up.A fun day and a definite place to tell my friends about. They really represent Birmingham well ❤️‍🩹

Christa Lodico — Google review

Wish they would bring back the concerts! The season passes would be worth it and I would pay for one every year if they brought back the concerts. It’s a decent park and the daily price is reasonable but I’d rather just pay for the day. Season Passes not really worth it without the concerts.

Breanna Cagle — Google review

The Winter light show was great. The drive thru the park was amazing.

Best mix of dry attractions/ Rollercoasters & swings and water park for all family members from 1 to 60+!Seasonal Passes. Please do get them 99.9usd (3+ months per person) unlimited visits vs 20-30 usd per one person's per visit.Do try go on week days much less crowd and very short lines.

The ultimate goal for the day is to have fun, if you are a Military or a healthcare professional do not get excited about the ticket discount on the website. There is no discount obviously, because it’s going to be similar to the online price, so for easy access purchase your ticket online and come to have fun, other than that your ticket is $44.99 for the adult and it’s going to be after discount $39.99.The different activity and the rides are excited and deserve the amount you paid for, staff members are friendly and cooperative, the amenities are clean and the guards available in all water area.I like everything except the clear communication about what you should expect about the pricing.

Biking Trails

Home to a petting zoo, golfing & beaches, this vast park has camping, hiking trails & fishing.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this park. From the amazing, helpful and accommodating staff to the landscape and activities. We tried to explore as much as possible in our 3 day, 2 night stay and it simply wasn't enough time! Fantastic hiking trails, equine facilities, kayak/paddleboards, camping, the wildlife center. The road construction before you reach the park was an annoyance, but after straightening out our directions it was smooth sailing! We will be back!

Phoenix Feathers — Google review

This state park and campground are so wooded and very pretty! Sites are somewhat spacious depending on the site you get and where it's located in the campground. They all have a picnic tables and firepit ring. They have a store with limited items, Firewood( $7.50 a bundle) and ice ($4.00? ) to purchase. Bathroom/ shower facilities are in need of serious updating but doable. ( this is the only reason I didn't give this campground 5 stars ). Tons of walking and biking trails right from the campground, nice and cheap laundry 4 of each machines, small beach and fishingdock to use with such pretty scenery there. My husband is happy he's catching fishing while here! Park staff are super friendly and helpful too. You have to come check this campground and state park out, you won't be disappointed!

Amazing state park in Alabama. A beautiful spot write off of the highway. A lot of trail and activities to be had. We went fishing and had a great time. This is a great place for the family, an outing with a partner, or a space to clear your head. It cost 5 bucks to get in and if your over sixty it cost 2 bucks. Very heavily recommend checking the park out if you love the outdoors.

Antonio Allen — Google review

A beautiful place. You can go right up to the peaville waterfall. I loved my experience. I am planning to come back and camp closer to the summertime. It's $5 a person, and maps are $1. But that was well worth the v experience I had.

Sarah Rentz — Google review

Beautiful state park with a multitude of activities. I tent (primitive) camped this week at Oak Mountain. My site (A-60) had a treacherous uneven climb but it was do-able for a fairly able bodied person. I wouldn’t recommend if you are disabled or have knee problems. The campsite itself was beautiful, fairly secluded and heavily wooded. It overlooks some RV sites but there was enough tree coverage to allow for seclusion. The bathhouses are an easy walk but they are awful! I heard they are being renovated this year so I look forward to visiting again. When I visited, I hiked a few trails, visited the bird sanctuary, went swimming at the lake and enjoyed peace accompanied by mild May weather. I can’t wait to visit again!

one of the best places to hike, bike, kayak, fish, camp, grill out, or really anything you'd want to do outdoors besides hunt ( they do have an archery range though). heck l, there's even a beach. I've been going here for 20 or so years and counting and It's just a great way to get outside. if you haven't hiked to kings chair it's a must do (see photos)

Seth Kelosky — Google review

If you love to go hiking, this is an awesome state park to visit. Although there were some sections of the trail that were steeper to climb, the reward of viewing Peavine Falls was worth it. We also hiked to the King's Chair Outlook which had a beautiful view of the green forest, mountains (in the distance), and a lake below. There were some beautiful views from the mountain ridge and large rock formations(along the Blue Trail). We also enjoyed hiking to Maggie's Glen - a pretty little area with a small bridge over a flowing stream. Another beautiful hike is The Treetop Nature Trail that follows a meandering stream surrounded by greenery. The beginning of this trail has a boardwalk section where rehabilitated birds of prey are contained in outdoor enclosures. The trails are well marked and there are several connecting trails. We packed a lunch, snacks, and plenty of water to enjoy the natural beauty of this park.

Tamara — Google review

Beautiful park, great location near local shops. Many amenities were closed. Bird rescue exhibit was neat. Playground is nice.

Sabrina Pierre — Google review

Some nice hikes and pretty views. Also, quite a lot of variety of activities it seems like. However, for someone like myself only really interested in hiking and camping, there are better places. There are lots of people and many of the hiking trails are shared with mountain bikes which makes them smooth and boring and annoyingly hazardous trying to watch out for fast-moving bikers. For me, I'd much rather go to Bankhead or Guntersville than Oak Mountain. Both have better hiking, better views, better waterfalls, and significantly less people.

Peter VandenBerg — Google review

This is an incredible park to visit! It’s HUGE and includes horseback riding, a golf course, playground, kayak & paddle boat rental, swimming area, and more! There were very nice bathroom facilities at all parking areas. Gorgeous views. Drive through road and tons of hiking trails with bridges. Wish we had more than a few hours, I think you could spend several days exploring and still not see it all!Stickers, magnets, T-shirt’s and stuffed animals at the park office, but very small selections.

Epic! Very friendly people at the gate. Super clean showers and bathrooms. Grills, and campsites kept up! The lake is really cool. Here for the annual Bump and Grind mountain bike race. Nice mountain bike trails. Can't wait to come back next year!

This looks lace is amazing. If you like hiking and being in nature than you have to go see these waterfalls. Not going to lie climbing down to the water fall can be dangerous but if you are in good shape you will have no problem getting down to them. If you are not in good shape, be warned it is no easy task!

A glorious place to hike. The park is dog friendly, and kid friendly. There was plenty of parking, and the restrooms were very clean. Stay the path and you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views like these.

The kings chair trail makes for a moderate hike. Distance is about 7.89 km with a detour @ the Overlook. It took us almost 3 hours. A swim at the lake And a picnic was the best way to conclude a successful day with family.Good walking/ hiking shoes highly recommend. The best way to get to the kings chair is to Start Blue trail at North Trailhead take to Kings Chair out and back continue on Blue trail to Red Blue connector. Then Red trail back to trailhead.

Great park on the outskirts of Birmingham. In one day I was able to do a little kayaking, hiking, and mountain biking on well maintained trails. Would definitely consider returning.

We visited the park twice in October/2023. First time we hiked the Rattlesnake Ridge and we actually almost stepped in a rattlesnake in the trail. Second time, We did the Lake trail by bike and it was a great experience. That was a few Fall colors. It must be prettier by November. The park is very well maintained, bathrooms were clean, there are showers and grills around. Great place to spend the day with family and kids too.

Beautiful State Park plenty of trails we had some nice rain the night before so the falls was rolling. Very nice overlook of the cities seen quite a bit of trash on the trails though which is just sad I wish people would quit throwing trash down.

Vanessa Poteet — Google review

You do have to pay a $5 fee to get in though. It is a really big park. There's walking trails (I didn't go through the whole area; I mostly stuck to the trails) and there's a big lake. There's an area with cabins as well. It's got some pretty good trails.

This is a beautiful, natural area just south of Birmingham. I was here in the winter and it was a very rainy day. I was still able to stroll around a little bit checking out the Nature Center with protected animals .I can imagine in the summertime, the park is packed with people hiking, biking and swimming.Take some time to go enjoy it.

Well maintained and clean. Attendees posted at front and back entrances and routinely patrolled to make sure everything is okay. Camp spots are marked with a post with the #s on them and are color coded to show different conveniences. Campground B doesn't look as well planned as the other sites. Some spots need a well experienced driver to back a camper into. Also could use a big grassy area to play catch, football, or maybe baseball without fear of hitting a car or camper

Visitor center

The Mercedes-Benz Visitor Center is a fascinating attraction that showcases the rich history of the German automaker through interactive exhibits and vintage cars. Although it would be great if tours were offered more frequently, visitors can still enjoy viewing about a dozen cars on display and purchasing souvenirs from the gift shop. The center also features informative exhibits highlighting examples of engines and tools used throughout Mercedes Benz's history, as well as a special section dedicated to F1 racing and Lewis Hamilton's championship-winning car.

All equipment was working great. 2 EQEs stopped by while we were there. Flawless experience. Started at 155kW -- fastest yet!

Friendly and informative staff. If you live all things Mercedes Benz, you should stop in and check it out. Oh, and stop by the gift shop while you’re there. Make sure you call first to make sure they’re open on the day you want to visit

Justin Hann — Google review

A much needed refresher. What an experience. I was fortunate to be able to visit the Mercedes Benz Visitor Center for the 2nd time and what a face lift. The last time I visited was Brand Immersion. I am proud to be apart of an amazing Company. Our team of facilitators are truly phenomenal. They’re entertaining, funny and beyond friendly. The facility is amazing and very spacious. It’s pretty cool to see the where it all comes from.

Fantastic learning experience! Great friendly staff!

I’ve been driving through this area for 3 months now, and since I have an EV, I use the charging station out front of this center. However, this “visitor center” has been “closed for training” for 3 MONTHS. I would love to tour it, but honestly, not sure they’ll ever open it.

Justin Russell — Google review

It was closed and is Friday 1 pm We did not see anything Continuing our trip . The building otside is nice

Miriam Zaga — Google review

Fun place to stop by if you’re driving through. Wish they would make tours a regular thing. I called almost a month in advance to add just myself to a tour. “Sorry full”. The visitors center is pretty nice. They have about a dozen cars to see. Small gift shop is very overpriced but what do you expect from Mercedes.

Nathan Oppie — Google review

Excellent museum to go and visit as it offers extensive history on all models of the Mercedes Benz and even a glance into what to expect in the future. The factory had and excellent interior design with restroom and looking the the older car models was very exciting. And looking at some new cars really got me in the mood to drive.

Andrew — Google review

Amazing! Plenty of Mercedes Benz history to admire. Lots of informative exhibits, examples of engines and tools used. AMG and Mercedes Benz souvenirs to take home from the gift shop. Special section of F1 information and the car Lewis Hamilton won a championship in. Definitely worth a visit.

Very nice place to charge the car, too bad it wasn't open when we stopped by.

Nature & Parks

Historical landmark

Activity-packed park offering cave tours & a light show plus wall climbing & games.

I think we were there at an unpopular time, because we seemed to have the whole place practically to ourselves - and it was AWESOME! None of us had ever been there before, and we enjoyed every bit of it. The staff was delightful, and it was obvious that they all loved working there. The caverns were beautiful, but what really made it fun was the tour guides. They were funny and informative, and the history of the place is really cool. And then there were all the activities! So much fun. You know it's a good day when the kids are too tired to walk back to the car.A few pro-tips - don't do the foam pit until last, because you'll get totally soaked. Wear sturdy walking shoes in the cavern. Bring some extra cash for the gift shop, because it's awesome! Wear glasses or goggles in the cannon shooting gallery! Plan to do EVERYTHING!

Laura Hutchinson — Google review

Great visit here today. We really enjoyed the cavern tour. Great new lazer show during the tour. The group was a little big in our opinion but the guide did well managing it. I think a smaller group would have made for a much better time. But it is a great time if your in the area.

Shane Herman — Google review

I would give more than 5 stars if I could!100% totally worth the hour and a half drive from the Montgomery area and the all inclusive tickets. So much information inside the cave. I want to talk all about what we learned but don’t want to ruin any surprises for anyone if they go. A huge 12 story tall cavern the size of a football field. A light show inside the cavern at the end. A beautifully curated gift shop. Lots of fun attractions. Food bar and a coffee bar, fudge and other confections. Very nice grounds/landscaping. Wonderful staff and tour guides. Perfect weather today.

Jessica Starr — Google review

we drove up today from the Columbus Ga Area.. about 2 hrs.let me say, I'm giving only 3 stars, but it may not be reflective of the location. I'll get to it.so.. overall, the Caverns park was clean, friendly and family friendly. it's attached to a campground I can't really comment on. it did look fairly nice from a distance. it's only getting three stars because it seemed most all the activities were targeting younger kids. ages 5/6 to maybe 12/13. not terribly exciting activities for slightly older kids. the prices for each activity, seemed a bit high, but I'm not sure how to lower them much and still make $$. a fine line there. We really did enjoy the cavern tour itself. it was a cool experience, and educational with some of the history associated with it.End thoughts.. if you are passing through the area, if you have young kids, or maybe grandkids, it might be worth the visit. if you have older kids, it's not really worth the stop, and not really worth driving more than an hour for. Again, not a bad place, but not worth the cost + traveling to, just for the cavern park. maybe if you're camping?

Kurt Vollmer — Google review

We came on July 4th. Great day trip. Cameron’s we’re cool to see and hear the history. Asa was a wonderful guide and juggler!! The laser show was a bit underwhelming, music and sound were good though. Lots of activities for the kids. Some of them need some attention, but overall recommend for a days visit.

Jeremy Stewart — Google review

The experience was great! It is a little pricey for what you get, but it’s a great experience especially for a family with children! I paid about $175 for four people. The business does try to get people’s business by being very helpful and being polite. The park has a relaxing atmosphere! We went during the week, and there were a good number of people that day. My kids got to experience all the attractions that were published on their website. The attractions are mainly geared for younger people though. If you’re an adult, I wouldn’t invest in the all-inclusive ticket if I were you. The cave trek and laser show should be just fine. The place isn’t pristine perfect, but it’s not as bad as other reviews have made it out to be.

Ken FilAm — Google review

Our family had such a great time here. I was worried our teenagers (19 & 15 yrs old) would be too old for the activities, but that is definitely not the case. It was a lot of fun for everyone! The maze was both hard and hilarious, the air cannons kept us laughing, and the basketball challenge was a pleasant surprise. More to do, but the cavern itself and the tour by Evan was AMAZING. The history of the cavern was so interesting. We loved the experience of being in total darkness, and the waterfall was breathtaking. I really cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you to the entire staff!

Tara Pellegrino — Google review

Coming from someone who's only ever visited one other cave (Ruby falls) I have to say that the main cavern is a sight to behold it felt like I was in some rock cathedral. The tour guide gave us ample time to enjoy the space, I did not feel like we were rushed at all. The history behind DeSoto caverns is somewhat interesting, but overall you're really there for the view. I would highly recommend anyone who likes caves/caverns, to definitely give this one a go.

Tommy Rogers — Google review

Family 4 went today! It was a cold day so not everything was opened. We did everything we could. Cute little place for the family to enjoy. With that being said, I think it is a bit overpriced with everything not opened. Maybe consider a "winter" deal. My 5 and 3 year enjoyed it. We love finding caves and LOVED the laser show after the tour. It was majestic! We will be back and hope to camp out next time.

Caity Kimbrell — Google review

Overall, we enjoyed our experience. Most everyone was nice and very helpful. The train was inoperable while there, but there were many other activities for the Littles. The tour was great! Our guide made it rather enjoyable. Although, it was a little more on the pricey end. Approximately $50 per person.

Kabrina Lester — Google review

My family stopped by and had an amazing time. We had a worker named Ervin or Erwin I believe. He took us in the cave, showed us the many activities (archery, train, water balloons etc.) The customer service was so friendly.

Andrea Montgomery — Google review

The caverns themselves were amazing and our tour guide, Anna, was great, everything else was "eh" at best. First, the tour is WAY overpriced. The grounds themselves are in complete disrepair and are falling apart. The gift shop floor is hazardous, the faucets in the bathrooms were falling off, none of the doors had latches that worked and there are no employees. No signs for directions, no information, nothing. You walk in and just wonder around until you figure things out. $130 for 2 adults and 2 kids is RIDICULOUS if you can't keep the facilities maintained. Also, I personally feel they have completely desecrated the cave. They have made so many "adjustments" and "alterations" you can't tell what is genuine and what is not. The colored lights make it hard to tell what the natural color of the formations are. There are wires running through so many formations and we are asked not to touch the formations, yet, they have destroyed many of them. The light show at the end, although impressive, has nothing to do with the cave itself and is a cheap ploy to bring in more tourism. Overall, I was not impressed with the Majestic Caverns overall and was disappointed that instead of focusing on the history and preserving the caves they have turned them into a money scheme.

Amanda Nolan — Google review

This place is pretty cool. From WI and saw this place on Google. Decided to go day off the Iron Bowl, so it was dead. We were told from locals that it gets cold down in the caverns, but rest assured it's a comfortable 60 degrees. It's a guided tour, you can't touch anything- but plenty of photo opportunities and learning. Highly recommend if you haven't been. Waited less than 5 mins to start. Don't forget to tip your guide (Atticus you rocked!)!

J L — Google review

The cavern is amazing. Having extra minutes to take more photos would have been nice but we spent 2 days exploring. Some of the activities need renovations but they were still quite enjoyable.I was really hoping to get a Majestic Cavern mug (loved the DeSoto clay mugs they use to have before the name change) but maybe one day!!!We spent 3 days at the campground. Picnic table was rotted and falling apart but that's why we bring own own plastic table ... weather and nature happens. I definitely recommend coming to camp and spend a few days to fully enjoy the park.

Windy Tiller — Google review

We bought the all inclusive tickets online, literally the night before. They have cave walks every hour, it's about a 45 minute walk throughIf you have fidgety kids, I don't recommend the actual cave, but the activities up top are super fun!All the employees were incredibly hands on, and very supportive of my special needs child.

Amy Headrick — Google review

Overall great birthday experience for my 12 year old daughter & our family as a whole. But the tour is way too long. We didn't get to experience whatever "light show" there was supposed to be. All of the attractions were not available & there should be some type of alarm for the train rides. We were so into the park and enjoying being outside on a nice day so really couldn't pay attention to the time. The gift shop items are a bit pricey and she said the bday fudge was not appetizing. I spent $24 for a bracelet. But I did it for my baby girl.

Tee Ellington — Google review

Camp ground is definitely run down and the bathrooms are disgusting! All 3 bathrooms the toilets would clog and Wobble real bad one of the toilets was leaning really bad about to tip over. Bathrooms do not get cleaned regularly! I stayed for 4 night and didn’t even see a single maintenance worker. Left a message to park staff to call me they never called me back. Toilets leaked sewer water at the base when flushed!! Customer service is terrible! I had called to confirm that they would be opening on Friday once we showed up this guy told us they had closed it was only 11am. After complaining they said they would do just one tour for our group. Very unreliable communication from park hosts. I would definitely not camp here again! Only reason they got 2 starts was because the cave tour was pretty good. Laser show was great tour is not very long and is a little expensive for the duration! I was very disappointed with all the amenities and the camp ground! It’s a real shame because this place is well advertised and seems great online but is very misleading!

adrian ugalde — Google review

We had a blast with our Cub Scout pack! What an amazing and memorable Scout trip we had! And Roman is top notch! His customer service exceeded our expectations! That guy is such an asset to your business! We will never forget all the memories that we made! We totally recommend!

Michael Mehio — Google review

I would definitely recommend. We enjoyed the cavern tour. There were so many activities for my 6 year old and our family. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was very clean and well kept throughout. The landscaping was lovely. We will definitely go back!

Julie Hill — Google review

Could be presented much better. The lazer show is lame. The tour is overpriced and rushed. Very disappointed.

I have been going to the Peach Park since the 80s and it never disappoints! They have the BEST Peach ice cream! My 14 year old and I split a small cup and it was a huge portion (too much for us to finish) which is a massive plus in my book! Took the kids this past Saturday and we bought some amazing produce and they had a blast on the playground and walking trail. The staff is wonderful as well! Thank y'all for providing such great memories from my childhood and now my children's, you guys rock!

Rider 0401 — Google review

Never realized Peach Park is actually a park. Both for kids and an RV park. They have swings and everything. Anyway, we had the fried pecan pie with vanilla ice cream and butter pecan ice cream. Really good. They also serve sandwiches and other types of food. Lots of goodies and apparel for sale as well.

Original Wood And Resin Videos — Google review

5 out of 5 for what it is. It's a small park just off I-65. There's a large shop with all sorts of stuff to buy, including obviously fresh peaches. There is a restaurant and they have homemade ice cream that's pretty good - including of course peach ice cream. There is indoor and outdoor seating, an outdoor area below the deck with a goldfish pond and a fire pit, more seating - just a relaxing space. There is a RV camping area up there hill behind which I assume is attached to the business. Also up the hill from the building is a playground area with covered seating and tables. It's pretty simple - seesaws, swings, a small slide, and a barn with stairs inside with second floor access to large tube slides to the outside. It's a pleasant little escape that small kids will enjoy.

Been visiting Peach 🍑 Park since I was a little girl. Always fun things to see and wonderful treats, and scrumptious food! Not to mention the ice cream and peach pie! It’s a must stop during traveling!

Tamela Schultz — Google review

The best fried pecan pie I have ever had!! The hubby and I will definitely make this a MUST to stop every time we come threw. And the Christmas decorations and the walk threw were so cute. Great place to stop in the summer time also!!!

What an absolutely awesome place to check out! Great walking paths to stretch your legs and you gotta try those amazing fried apple pies! So many fresh fruits and vegetables to choose from to take home! And the cherry on top is their phenomenal ice cream! 😋

Very cool little park. Very family-oriented. Stopped at the Loves to park the truck and meet up with my parents and one of my twin nephews and stopped by Peach Park. Got my 72 year old Dad to go down a slide and seesawed with my Mom lol. Highly recommend

Oh my goodness seriously!! This was a welcome rest stop after a long drive from the beach! Everything from the fresh strawberries as you walk in the door so fragrant! Fresh peaches ,watermelon, veggies to homemade ice cream 👏🏼delicious and barbecue. It was so wonderful to sit outside in the rocking chairs and enjoy the nature park watch family’s play together. Excellent place to let the kiddos burn off that spent up energy from long rides. Gives mom a chance to get a little shopping fix 😂 love little shops like this! I’ll add more pictures of the park this morning on out walk before we head out for Missouri.. I may need to wait for the express shop across the street to open I’ve spied out some yard art I think I need 😍

Amber Montgomery — Google review

Pitstop? Passing through? Peach fix? This is your stop! Plenty of “fresh” items to choose from. Pies, produce, and homemade peach ice cream to name a few. Great place to stretch your legs and get something out of the ordinary. Friendly staff as well. Gas stations and fast food joints nearby too in case you have one of those in your company. Keep up the peachy keen work!

Bryan & Sarah Scribner — Google review

Great food and a place to stretch while travelling. Farmers market area in front of the store, small shopping area, and plenty of seating. We had lunch here and it was delicious! Our only regret was that we didn't grab ice cream! Perfect place for families with children and/or pets to walk around and enjoy the park area while travelling. Beautiful area!

Jessica McGowan — Google review

Seen the billboards for the place on way to Florida so made sure to stop by on way back. And I was not disappointed!! We had to park in the overflow parking lots they had 2. It was very busy. I was super excited. The smell hits you on way in. It smelled soo good. They also had fried pies, all sorts of fruits. We got some tomatoes, watermelon, candles , turkey sandwich, also some ham sandwiches which isn’t pictured. It was filling & very good. They also had an ice cream shop that was filled up with all sorts of varieties & a small restaurant inside of building for hot food. They have a small souvenir shop but it was too pricey for me. We loved this place & plan on going back sometime soon and just make it a day trip .

Billie Mullins — Google review

What an adorable place to visit! Definitely worth checking out at least once. I believe that it’s intended to be a giant play area to bring your children for some food and fun- but it’s a nice hangout spot for adults too. Playground, gift shop, BBQ, various desserts- they’ve got this worn out horse statue that is very popular with the kiddos. Their trash bins have giant animal heads on them which are a little creepy but also kinda cute, I’ll let you decide which. Live music on the weekends. A large patio/deck for folks to eat on that is dog friendly and has some seating available where you can get a little shade. There’s numerous chairs and benches around the wooded area too if you want a more secluded spot. And some indoor seating as well if you like your air conditioning. They have different specials daily that they post on social media and also display on their white board there. Favorite thing I ordered was the queso waffle fries. My husband has a sweet tooth so really enjoyed their sweet tea but sadly didn’t save any room during lunch for dessert. Guess we’ll have to go back!

Kathryn Knecht (Katie) — Google review

I have been visiting the peach park for years and I like the upgrades of the deck with the state for love music. This is a great pit stop for your trips . You have great options for food or sweets or you can pick up fresh produce to take back home.

Scott Burbank — Google review

What a great travel stop along I-65! Kids loved the ice cream and the fried pies and I enjoyed the pimento cheese sandwich!Peach Park has some fun little gardens to explore and stretch your legs and some great boutique shopping, too. Perfect fit for our family to spend some time at on our way through Alabama.

Scott Beyer — Google review

We did something different on this visit. We played on the playgrounds. Our two year old enjoyed himself for about 30 to 40 minutes... which is really good for him. Swings and slides for various ages. Climbing activities for older kids. Good wholesome fun.

Dana Stringer — Google review

We have family in Florida and have always tried to stop by the Peach Park at least once every year for over a decade. It has changed so much in appearance and is an amazing place to kick back relax while letting the kiddos play. The things that haven't changed: the food and desserts. OMG the peach cobbler! If your not sure if you should stop by; just do it! You won't regret it!

Jamie Vice Garner — Google review

It was a good place. They have good food to eat. They had homemade peach ice cream and different kinds of sweets to. They had a good gift shop.
