Hi, I was diagnosed in a ER with CHF a couple of weeks ago and the cardiologist I am to see is on vacation. I was placed on lisinopril, lasix, and propanolol as a preventive by my PCP while waiting. I have been coughing lately and I saw somewheres that coughing may be a lisinopril warning sign. Is this correct. I do not see the heart doctor until next friday for final diagnosis and future planning.Thank you in advance.

Hello - My sister has CHF and her doctor has talked to her about a fairly new drug called Entresto. She is excited about it, but I am wondering about it as it is a new drug. Does anyone take this drug or know anything about it?

My husband is 55 years old and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy 5 years ago (may have been alcoholic cardiomyopathy?) -- he has been on coreg and lisinopril for 5 years with very few side effects -- his cardiomyopathy has resoved and his heart is "healthy" back to normal size and function. He decided to stop taking his coreg and lisinopril last week. He is weaning himself down. I think he is crazy for doing this -- especially without telling the doctor .

I am currently on Lisinopril to keep my BP down (I have Cardiomyopathy after going into CHF from a virus that went to my heart). I have had a cough which is a side effect of Lisinopril. My doctor just gave me a RX for Losartan but this med is more expensive by quite a bit. I haven't had any other problems with Lisinopril besides the cough and I am scared to change meds and take the chance of worse side effects.

t really a question, but some words of encouragement to those of you suffering from CHF. I was diagnosed with CHF the week of Thanksgiving 2007. The diagnosis was Restrictive Cardiomyopathy. My EF was 5 to 10%. My Angiogram showed no blockages and my blood pressure has always been about 115/70. My Cardiologist still doesn't have an exact cause but feels it may have been a Virus that attacked the heart muscle. I was prescribed Coreg, Lisinopril, Bumex and Aspirin among others.

I am on 10mg lisinopril and 12.5 of a Diuretic. My fingers have been swelling up so bad the last 3 months to the point I had to have my rings cut off. My doctor doesn't seem concerned, just gave me another Diuretic 12.5 to take it when I swell up again. Will that lower my BP a lot or make me feel weird? I never heard of anyone taking that much unless they have CHF. I am a little concered why my fingers are so puffy all the time.

I'm 76 years old was diagnosed with CHF in February of 2009. I am being treated by a good cardiologist. My ejection rate is 34% and I hope increasing all the time. It was 20% in February at my initial diagnosis. I'm taking carvedilol, lisinopril, digoxin, medication for my cholesterol and diabetes 2 and also aspirin and cod liver oil . I would like to continue with my exercise program and don't know if it's allowed. It's not hard, just walking.

Sure enough, after the ultrasound, the resident doctor and a cardiologist came in to explain to me that I have cardiomyopathy and CHF. I was put on Carvedilol, Lisinopril, and Spironolactone while I was in the hospital. My O2, my pulse rate, my blood pressure all improved immediately. I've had a few problems since being diagnosed in February, and I would say that it's mostly my body getting adjusted to the medicine that I've been on.

An EF of 45%, while below normal, should not be enough byitself to cause the symptoms youo are experiencing. What is your diagnosis? What type of cardiomyopathy do you have? I'm not an M.D., just a CHF patient with dilated cardiomyopathy and an EF if 15% and with the medications I take, which include Coreg,Amiodarone, Lisinopril, Torsemide, Spironalactone and coumadin, my symptoms are nowhere near as severe as yours.

I get tired so easily, too. Just walking from my car to a building can be exhausting with someone with CHF. I take Lisinopril, Multaq, and Digoxin. I don't know how I got this Congestive Heart Failure. The doctor said it is caused by a weak heart muscle that can no longer pump enough oxygen to get rid of excess fluid in someone's body. I guess I wore out my heart. I am 61 years old and I have done a lot of things to wear out my heart muscle.

I have had known atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response for ten years. Afib symptoms were rare, so did not take medication on regular basis. 01/05/11: Sent home from ER on low-dose meterprolol. Two days later end up in ER again, admitted for cardiomyopathy (which was news to me) and heart rate that was 118-130 sitting still. Echo performed and sent home by the cardiologist and told to eat more salt. Was not told the results of the Echo.

My dad has had congestive heart failure for the last 10 years. In 2001 he had a quintuple bypass at 73 yrs old. 2 months ago he was admitted to the hospital for fluid retention. Annette, I guessing you have been prescribed a number of drugs for CHF symptoms, certainly a Beta Blocker. These drugs can make your symptoms worse for a week or two, but will strengthen the heart eventually. What drug are you taking, and what is the dose?SOB can be a symptom of a blockage of one or more of the heart arteries. Did you have an angiogram? Let us know what drugs you are taking, what procedures you have had to determine your CHF level.

5 years after the bypass, it failed, and I experienced severe symptoms of CHF and was diagnosed with the same. My BNP level was 3,000+. I had a high-risk stenting procedure from a trained Cardiologist from a teaching hospital, and my BNP level dropped to about 1000 and my energy level returned somewhat.

20 mg in 7 am , and 20 mg Lisinopril in 7 pm (so total = 40 mg Lisinopril per day). During the day (systolic) hypertension goes 150-160 mmHg and only in 2-4pm it is 130 mmHg (and at 10-12 pm). What should be done for this patient. Maybe trying a diuretic (hydrochlorthiazid) and lowering the dose of Lisinopril? I am wondering if you think we will see more patients in the future getting filtration-type treatments for their CHF? As a Telemetry RN in an acute care facility, I see frequent admissions and then subsequent readmissions (over and over) for exacerbation of CHF. Our hospital has core measures that we follow on every CHF patient in order to ensure an Echo has been done within the past 6 mos and if warrented a Rx for an ACE inhibitor.

I would say that you have CHF or HR because your EF is low at 40%. A normal EF (ejection fraction) is > 55% and normal is between 55-60%. I cannot tell you exactly why your heart is weak specifically because I don't have enough information. Congestive heart failure (CHF) and heart failure (HF) are synonomous. People can have diastolic heart failure (where the EF is normal) or systolic heart failure and rarely, some people have both.

I am a professional violinist and recently developed an essential tremor in my bow arm which interferes greatly with my playing. My neurologist tried primidone but it has helped only a little. I asked if he could put me on Inderal which I understand can help with essential tremor.However -- the doctor pointed out that I am already on lisinopril (for hypertension) which, he claimed, ALSO is effective in treating essential tremor.

I have been taking 40 mg lisinopril for 3 months. It works on my BP but I am coughing and my nose is running.
